ID3 Metadata not fired

Hi,

I have a live HLS stream coming out of Wowza. http://109.228.8.184:1935/vualto/myStream/playlist.m3u8

Following the steps on Wowza support on inserting ID3 metadata.
http://www.wowza.com/forums/content.php?322-How-to-convert-onTextData-events-in-a-live-or-VOD-stream-to-timed-events-(ID3-tags)-in-an-Apple-HLS-stream&page=2#comments

I can get this working on IOS by following the Wowza support on "How to debug timed data events (ID3 tags) from Apple HLS streams in iOS devices"

http://www.wowza.com/forums/content.php?355

So not sure why JW Player cannot output the ID3 but iOS can?

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,

We can only read ID3 data that has been included in the AAC audio portion of an HLS stream, and only when our player is in Flash mode.
Apple does not expose the ID3 data to us, so we have no way of reading it on iOS or when our player is in HTML5 mode in Safari on a Mac.

Kind regards,
Todd

Hi Todd,

I am talking about Flash mode. This doesn't seem to work, I have no metadata fired on the onMeta function. Can you try the example stream I have posted and confirm?

As I stated, it works for iOS.

I tried your stream and unfortunately our player is not seeing any ID3 data. This is most likely because Wowza is not inserting the ID3 data in the audio stream where we can read it. I will e-mail you a link to an HLS stream that does have ID3 data that we can read.
