Facebook feed support for JWPlayer (AKA flashvars from query string)

Hi

After a year of not using JWPlayer, I've come back to it because a supplier of ours is using it. I've found that it is no longer possible to create a JW6 Flash player directly from query string parameters

This is/was as far as I know the only way of embedding a JWPlayer into a Facebook feed via the Open Graph tags for video.

I note from the current source code that this block is just commented out. Is that something that is likely to be left in that state or is it temporary due to some incompatibility issue?

I completely acknowledge that it would be much better to configure JW via the embedder, however in this one scenario that's not possible.

Is there some other way of handling Facebook feed video embedding these days or is it just a no-go?

I noticed that your JW Platform supports social sharing. Perhaps the removal of flashvars/querystring configuration is to move customers towards this? Or perhaps its because it is way too easy to hotlink a player using flashvars/querystring configuration?

Anyhow, It would be great to get your take on this.

Cheers,
Joe

You need to use JW5 for FB embedding. JW6 only supports our JS embedder.

Hi Ethan

Long time :)

Yep, I got that from the other post on this matter. Any idea why that feature got disabled?

It was actually removed because this feature (embedding in this way) included an XSS vulnerability.
