Video playing upside down

Hello,

When I play my video straight from S3 and then in JWPlayer in Chrome, my video is right side up. When others play the video in a Safari browser, the SAME video is upside down. Is there something I am doing wrong or have set up incorrectly to cause this behavior?

Thank you!

Do you have an example that we can look at?

Yes, this video link is an example. I think it is more of a video problem than a JW Player problem, but I am unsure.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/Test-Videos/UpsideDown.mov

If I play the video using JWPlayer in Chrome on a Windows, it is right side up. If I play the video using JWPlayer in Safari, it is upside down. If I use a quicktime player, the video is upside down until I change the Content-Type from 'video/quicktime' to 'video/mp4'

Any suggestions? I would like to have it be right side up on all browsers. Is this a MetaData issue?

Hi Kyle,

When viewing the video file directly through Chrome (Without using the player) I am seeing the video play upside down. For video files on HTML5, we suggest using h.264 and AAC audio. Additionally, the server MIME type should be set to video/mp4.

Regards,
Andrew

Andrew,

Thank you for your response. I have updated the 'Content-Type' Metadata to video/mp4 in AWS. Does this satisfy setting the MIME type? While it flips the video right side up in Chrome, the video is still upside down when viewing in a Player inside Safari. What would solve this problem?

Thank you very much for the help!
Kyle

Hi Kyle,

This may be due to the encoding. I’d suggest using the free program handbrake to re-encode the file with the settings specified above.
