It seems jw player has issues playing poorly maintained hls streams. If the master.m3u8 contains a bad link, the player will read "404 Not Found" or "No Playable sources". However, if you load one of the individual streams contained within the master file. It works fine. This was at one time a bug with ffmpeg at one time, not sure if it was fixed.
It might also be worth adding, this doesn't happen with 'projekktor player', which uses a few build ins like vlc, which supports error handling and redirection within hls streams. However I like jwplayer much better and thought I'd bring this to your attention.
As a follow up. I can't provide an example for you, because the streamer fixed their m3u8. However this was definently the case... If there is a bad url in the master file, jwplayer throws a 404 for the whole thing.

If this error happens again, I will certainly send you a working example. However the stream I was experiencing this with, has since fixed their master file.
If you have access to wowza or whatever platform you want, if you make an HLS stream - then edit the master file and put a bad url in there and then try to run it you will see this problem. :)
I'm 99.9% sure this is the issue, as literally the minute the master was fixed, JW player worked without 404. Thanks for the reply!
