Audio tag is needed

Audio tag is not supported by the JW-Player - so we decided to disable JW-Player on mobile devices driven by a seperate setup. Thats a mass, because a fast-growing amount of our users don't get the corporate-skinned JW-Player but the native non-skinned device Players.

Here the two main problems caused by the lack of audio tag:

a) iPhone issue
The JW Player treats audio content and video content the same, which means it runs music in full screen on iPhones.

So audio is listening only on fullscreen on iPhones. We have pages with lots of additional informations about the audios like this!content!rbb!rad!programm!sendungen!sendungen!4!1404!140401_eins_der_sch_ne_morgen_mo_fr_9603/to=02-04-2014_05-00.html

Also our Livestreams only can listened on Fullcreen on iOS withe the JW Player.

The iPhone Users hardly can read the informations while listing the ondemand audios or the livestreams.

b) Scaling issue on small HD-devices
A wide range of HD-Ultrabooks come with an default system scaling of 120%. After starting the 30px height restricted audio-player, the controls disappears because the "audio only controlbar"
is disabled after pass the 30px border due to browser or system-scaling.

Yes, we render everything in <video>, regardless of the source used.

Hello Ethan,

thanks for confirming the status quo. But some points are left to answer i'm afraid.

Could you tell something about your roadmap at this issue?

Will Audio tag ever come?
(yes/no/maybe/next release/release xy/never)

We need this information for our planning.

Thanks and best regards

Maybe, I would need to ask.
