VMAP, VAST 3.0 and Icons

Greetings Ethan and JWPlayer Team,

Quick question before I spend more time debugging my VAST Icons XML and attributes.

Is Icons supported in the current JWPlayer version? Kinda sitting here with a sales order from a client expecting it to work. ;)

Section 2.4.3.2 in http://www.iab.net/media/file/VASTv3.0.pdf

"When the <Icons> element is included in the VAST response, the video player must display the object
as an overlay on top of the Linear Ad with which the icon is served and after the ad video has started
(i.e. first frame of video is displayed in the player)."

P.S. VMAP and VAST 3.0 and ad-pods (breaks) works great so far by the way.

Kind regards,
Robert

Do you have an example of <Icons> ?

Hey,

Some call them "power-rolls"; Basically, non-linear ads inside the linear ads to provide extra functionality to an commercial. To what extent is a bit unclear.

I'm a bit unsure what kind of example you want, but here's 1) the XML

https://gist.github.com/RobertBrewitz/ff061c978f12f9a9c942

and 2) the closest example would be this ad at http://sandbox.adten.eu/playad/widescreen.html but putting it in a pre-roll/ad-pod context.

I will try find a proper example though.

Kind regards,
Robert

Oh,

In the Icon case the "overlay/non-linear" should not be closable, and it should only be displayed between the offset setting and the offset+duration time-window.

And please have the devs look at the VAST 3.0 docs if you decide to implement it soon ;)

I'm not 100% confident my XML is entirely correct.

In any case,

I need to know if it is supported or not? ;)

If it's not supported I have to go with an alternate player for the duration of this advertising campaign.

I do not believe we support Icons, I’m afraid. VMAP and VAST3 are supported though, so are ad pods.

"VAST3 are supported though" but not Icons which belongs in VAST 3 ;)

I will check if that part of the spec is in.
