HTTP streaming from VLC to wordpress website

Hello everyone. Desperately looking for a solution to this issue for a couple of weeks now.

Here is the problem.

I would like to host a video file from my PC to my website. That way anyone who clicks on my website will see the live streaming video when I chose to stream them.

I tried using Stream Video Player and ProVideo player from the Worbpress plugin library but had no luck as I really do know what I am doing when it comes to the player codes.

I have ports forwarded

This works fine when VLC to VLC or WMP

Can someone please explain if this is possible to take http://IP:Port info from VLC and view it on a player on my website?

Thank you all for helping.

Yes.

All I know is that on if someone on VLC wished to watch my stream, they would need this address

Do you know what type of stream this is?

Yes. It is a HTTP stream that should be in WMV format. There are other formats I can chose but I chose WMV for VLC to encode the stream as that is a common format. the movie file itself is originally a AVI format

Ah, that is not something we support. The player doesn’t support WMV or AVI.

Right I know that.

But that is because in this instance. I chose to encode the video as such. With VLC I can encode the stream to MP4, MP3, h.264 + AAA(TS), Mpeg2, Div3 and others.

What I am trying to do is start the stream from my computer and have it play on mywebsite.

this stream is not ONLY WMV or AVI

You could use VLC for this. I have not personally done it, but we have another example here – http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/forums/jw-player/setup-issues-and-embedding/3117/http-streaming-with-vlc-jw-player-not-working/

Yes I have looked at that post and was unable to use it as I was not entirely sure what most of the info was and how it applied. Im trying to figure out where to post that info in that thread.

Im still playing around with the info in that thread.

I found some other stuff on StackOverflow for this as well – https://www.google.com/search?q=vlc+jwplayer&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
