My company are doing a deal with a studio who require the video files to be DRM encrypted.
We are currently using Amazon Encoder, S3, Cloudfront and JW Player.
What would be the easiest method of implementing DRM?
Right now the best protection option is to use RTMPE when streaming from a cloudfront streaming distribution.
This week we’ll release an update that allows to play back AES-128 encrypted streams in Flash (this already works in HTML5 on iOS devices). Unfortunately elastic transcoder can’t generate AES encrypted streams though.
Thanks remco. I know how illogical DRM may seem, but unfortunately the movie studios insist upon it. We must use DRM such as PlayReady, Flash Access, or Widevine.
We're currently looking at this solution http://jwplayer.electroteque.org/securedrm with http://www.ezdrm.com/html/Adobe/Flash_Access/about_flash_access_2.asp but any other options would be welcomed.
When you release the update will it make the above plugin redundant or would it still be required?
We currently have no plans to implement real DRM natively.
I have the same problem as Tom. I run a full service Hosting Systems for Videostores. Now I have 2 additional requests. 1.) run the own trailer Streaming Host to replace youtube (more and more unwillcome ads from compeditors) and second offer a payside with actuell Cinema Titles.
For the second target DRM is a must!
I have the feeling that JW player and Bit on the run will give us a lot of tools to setup a solution in less time. Only the DRM ist the blocking point.
Have some one ideas to protect movies without DRM but on a way die Studios will accept it?
