opening JW Player in lightbox

Hi guys,

I was wondering if you could help me again :-) I would like to click on a text/image on my site and then open a lightbox in which the JW Player is playing a video.
I searched through the forum here and found some posts, but to be honest, I am completely lost by now :-( I am not really brilliant with coding.

I think that this post is actually really good

http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/forums/jw-player/setup-issues-and-embedding/12575/lightbox-effect-with-jw-wordpress-plugin

and rw1 explained there how to use the player with the lightbox plus plugin, but I am struggeling a little bit with understanding it.

It is said, that I have to change the "Link Class" and the "Content ID" in the lightbox plus settings. But which settings are these? Because I cannot find them. They are not labeled :-( I guessed that it might be the use class method, but I am not really sure.

Then I was wondering about one thing in the code, the line

file: "your-video.flv",
flashplayer: "http://www.your-site.com/wp-content/uploads/jw-player-plugin-for-wordpress/player/player.swf",

can I also upload a .mov video, because I know that the JW Player can also play the .mov format but in this code a .flv video is played. Can I just upload a .mov format or do I have to change something?

I hope that this is an easy way to get the JW Player in a lightbox, but if there is another easier way to do it, it would be great to get some hints :-)

I hope that this makes all sense and it would be great to get some help again and thank you so much :-)

Hey,

thanks a lot, that seems to be really good, the only problem I have is, that my player is under the black plane and not above, as soon as I am clicking on the player, I am apparently clicking on the black plane and the lightbox closes. I used the code exactly how it was written on the page.

ok, that's the link, but it is just a test page. The whole design etc. is not online yet so don't wonder, that it looks completely rubbish, as I am first checking out, how all the stuff is working, before I am building the disign.

I was wondering about two other things as well:

firstly, when I am moving my mouse cursous over the image, there is no little hand showing, which is normally indicating, that you can click on it and that something is going to happen.

secondly, I am using a wordpress theme which shows images in lightboxes as well, but apparently not videos. So I was wondering, if I can either use the lightbox layout from my theme and get it into my jwbox layout or if I can actually put my JWplayer in the lightbox of my theme?

Would be great to get some hep again and thank you sooooo much.

1. change cursor to pointer

2. i know nothing about wordpress

Do you have a storyboard in what you are trying to do?

That is to say, using A4 paper and on it draw out your vision.

hehe, I have nearly completed the design, it is just not online yet, as my whole website is not finished yet and I don't want to show it to anyone beforehand. This is just a test page I just made up very quickly. If you have a look on my website in I guess maybe 2 weeks (maybe even sooner) you will see something completely different ^^

As written above, I want to show my own videos in the JW Player. So I want to have images on my side, like a portfolio and if someone is clicking on the image, the JW Player is opened in a lightbox and is playing a movie. Now Ethan LongTail pointed me out to the JWBox, but it is not proper working. I guess I did sth wrong, althought I did all the steps on the website and so I asked here again, hoping that someone can help me :-)

The JW Box works on your test page for me.

this is really strange, which browser are you using, if I may ask?

I opened the page with Safari and Firefox and in both cases it didn't work. It showed the lightbox, but the JW Player was behind the black stuff and I couldn't click on it. Might there be some Browser issue?

do you know, if there is some common known thing, why it is not working in my case? Because I just updates Firefor and Safari and still, same error. Do you think it might have to do sth with my browser or computer?

In my Chrome and FF 9.01 I get "Video not found or access denied: /videos/monster.mov"
In IE8 all I get is a white box where the video should be.

The lightbox works, the video isn’t found though.

ok, thank you so much for your help. I guess I have to do it some other way.

I can't understand, why the video is not found, it is the same path, I am using, when I only use the JW Player without lightbox and it always worked... really strange...

The issue is that your video file didn’t exist on your server, but now the test page is gone, so I can’t check to tell you the exact path.
