live video stream closed captioning
I am trying to display closed captioning that is embedded in line 21 and plays on hls, including jwplayer 6. However, I can not get cc to display on rtmp.
Any ideas?

Yes. The original streaming video has captions embedded in line 21 (or 608 for HD)

Do you mean the HLS on mobile is showing the captions?

yes. iPhone/iPad show captions. However, rtmp on the web does not

Are you sure the RTMP stream has them encoded ?

Yes. It's the same stream feeding into the encoder. It produces HLS streams (which display the CC) and the rtmp streams (which do not display the CC).

I'm trying out the free version. I tried downloading jwplayer6 from our account and no luck. I guess we have to upgrade our account. Do you have any info on what we need to do. I want to test this out first and see if it works. I'm not sure what version of jwplayer6 the free edition is. Can you tell me?

Hey Guys, we are doing the exact same thing - (fellow Christian programmer too - :)
We are trying to drop a stream through a wowza stack to jwplayer - is this possible? We are using an elemental encoder so we can drop the live caption to you several ways.

rtmp streaming is fine on all platforms/browsers. I can't see closed captioning on any platform/browser that i've tried. I don't have access to firefox on mac.

There is a bug with captions in live rtmp streams. It will be fixed for 6.5.
