I paid my 20 Euro, and would have paid more, it's a great product, but if we can't get answers for major bugs like this then it's not even worht the 20 Euro

Do you have links to YouTube videos that have no sound?

And which OS, browser, Adobe Flash Player version?

I'd like to check this out myself, but all of my YouTube links seem to have sound.

@corpse,

Your link plays fine with audio on Windows XP, IE6, Opera9, and FF,.

Adobe Flash Player v9,0,124,0

Maybe some Windows update broke things???

I tried to add volume flashvar, but it wasnt fixed problem.

Also some users have XP, others have VISTA who have this problem..

And i gave setup wizard page of 4.0 for youtube video, they didnt hear any sound too with latest player.

They can hear sound on youtube.com and orginal youtube embed coded videos.

I hope we may find problem asap

Didn't work for me either... The only thing I can think of lastly is third party software like popup blockers... is there any ways that these YouTube videos are being brought in, in a fashion that's triggering somehting?

Very strange that is. I am having now this issue as well on my own machine (mac) - no sound on youtube streamed video with teh jw flv player, locally loaded flv files are OK. Its neither working in Safari, Opera nor Firefox. I then checked the videos with the chromeplayer API directly http://code.google.com/apis/youtube/chromeless_example_1.html
on my machine and there the sound works - so its surely not a problem on youtube servers.

Same application with a windows client no problem.

I haven't had problems with sound running 3.16 with youtube for a couple of weeks. I recently installed a real player and silverlight but can't 100% say thats when the issue came up for me for the first time. Will have to investigate that further....

please let me know if you find a solution for your machine, I hate to move back to my old player which I made in FLEX, it's crappy, but at least I knwo the sound will work... Perhaps I shouldn't have PAID for this player before putting up on the site

I have exactly the same problem, all the youtube videos initially had no sound ( as of last night) and then one by one stopped playing completely and the player even broke the container. When I deactivated wordtube the post looked ok however in the place of the player I had [media= 3] (the number of the media file) and the post looked ok...In the media centre the player played ok though but without sound.
It could be the OS ( I have VISTA) I tried with other websites I have and the problem is exactly the same. Youtube stand alone is ok, so it is not the youtube.server. Any ideas are welcome
Thanks

HolmesSPH just a piece of advice dont go trying to diss other people's work, it seems to me a problem with flash and adobe sure JW can try see if there are any fixes he can implement but i have not had this problem and it could be as ive not upgraded my flash, have u ever considerd asking the pepz with the problem was there any software upgrades they have done? as if this was a JW error it would have been picked up years back

JW Player

User
0 rated :

Suley, when I pay for a product I have the right to ask for support if I please. I wasn't "dissing" his product, I was making a point that a product without support is worthless when it doesn't work. Which, by the way is true in my case, considering all my videos are youTube videos.

Also, the problem persists on just about every version of flash, I have users on 7.0 who say it works fine, and I have users on 9.0 who says it works. On the same coin I have users on the same versions whom say it doesn't work.

I have asked almost a hundred users now every question under the sun, OS, Third Party Software, Browser, Flash, version of almost everything. Thus far there seems to be no valid trend. We have tried having users clear their cache, make sure all cookies are enabled (sound volume uses cookies) and still no luck.

So don't act like I am some post-wench sitting back making faces and yelling. I've been more proactive then any one trying to solve this issue, it's only my right to ask that the maker of this player be just as responsive.

Also, JW seems to be using the Google/YouTube API.. and not the rest API that YouTube put out like two years ago, I haven't dove into the ActionScript that much except for last night. But there is an easier way to pull in YouTube videos, and it's kind of... well it was the you did it BEFORE YouTube actually allowed it, I did it with the last player I built but it was in Flex, and Flex had to many issues with video quality I got sick of it, and there was no point in building a brand new player in Flash when there were already to many out there I could purchase

I got your emails and am working on this. Indeed this is an issue somewhere between the player, youtube, flash and the OS. As it’s all so inconsistent, the real problem is difficult to track down. I am working on it though!

Jeroen, you may want to take into account the timing of this issue, It is only in the last couple of weeks or so...
Also, is there any issue with any other file types, or is it only youtube? Good luck. it is a tough one

The only thing I do know with regards to timing is that Adobe pushed its 9.0.124 release through the auto-update of IE, since the previous version had a security leak. It could be this version was too swiftly hacked together. But then again, I also tested on a 9.0.124 computer and that worked…

Ok, I did a test... I had a user view the player on a test page with it using an FLV file instead of a YouTube video, and the sound worked. Once again I can't confirm 100% that the problem is ONLY isolated to Youtube videos, but it did work for her as an FLV....

JW Player

I had a couple more users test whom no sound was working and when using a local FLV they all reported hearing sound but when I switched the test page to use Youtube no sound... So... Perhaps now we can confidently say it's issolated to YouTube videos.. at least this particular sound bug

Good stuff, thanks! And do you use the Youtube API or FLV files directly from Youtube? If it’s the API, I will do some tests with that. If it is straight FLV, I’ll take a look at the metadata inserted in YT videos.

When i use youtube's embed code, it works without problem.

I didnt try to load directly youtube's flv.

JW Player

I went to some YouTube download engine and downloaded the YT FLV file.. then I uploaded it to my server and ran the test using it. The FLV file was a direct download from YT's server, so the meta should have been the same compared to the Youtube API video.

Holy Shit! What happened to all my YouTube videos and sound? Youtube changed something again like they did before and recently, where you can't set their videos to widescreen anymore on the JW player. This completely sucks.

JW Player

These are the results from my own tests. The new player and the old player will play mp3s, flv, mpg... with SOUND and video working, too. But when I play a YouTube video, the video will play, but absolutely no sound. I think now that all YouTube videos can only be played in their own players. Apparently, they figured out a way to block the sound in all JW player, somehow. Does matter what JW version either...no sound. Bummer!

Also, has anybody notice the ads now on youtube videos? They're playing ads now when you play a video.

JW Player

User

Still no sound. Been trying all day to figure out what happened.

All coding is right. The problem is coming from YouTube. Their videos will play in the JW players, but without any sound at all. I don't think the problem is with the JW player, my OS, or whatever. It's at YouTube.

Somehow, they have figured out a way to block the video audio from playing in JW players. Why the hell would they do, beats me. Anyway, I've troubleshooted all night and all day and no success. I'm totally convinced the problem is at YouTube.

JW Player

User

Oppono Astos,
If the problem was Youtube, and they were blocking JW's player (wouldn't make sense anyways he's using the API) then we all all be experiencing this issue not only with our own computers but with all our users as well.

Still the videos work just fine for me, but I have a large group of users for whom it doesn't work. Please read the rest of the posts in this forum before you start blurting out things such as "YouTube has blocked JW's player"... some users don't read the entire set of posts and if they come on and read yours only they will be strongly misled.

Appono Astos,
Not everyone here claimed that it was 100% not working for youTube videos, also there was a second thread on this very subject that died, and there were people there as well with mixed results, some people it was working for and some people it was not working.

http://www.mypraize.com/index.php?option=com_mediajive&Itemid=213

Here are a couple thousand videos, knock your self out, they all work on my PC (linux, FF3) and it uses JW's player to stream in YouTube videos. I should also mention that the MAJORITY of users it works fine for, it's a smaller percentage that are having trouble with it.

So once again, there is no way that Youtube has singled out JW's player lol, that's just stupid, please tell me how this is even possible! The only possible tracking options is that it blocks the API key that he's using, but then the post where JW him self said he can't replicate the Youtube no sound problem wouldn't really accurate now would they ;)

JW Player

User

I've checked on about 20 PCs so far. Mostly XP, mostly FF 2 or 3. YouTube always has sound. So all hope of investigating this problem has faded.

Those without sound will have to experiment on their non-working systems to see what has changed, then fix it.

HolmesSPH,

I guess you're right. I apologize for 'blurting' on this site, but something suspicious happened, and very recently.

Yeah, that's a looooot of videos on your page, but no sound for me.

Let's test something here. View this page: http://h1.ripway.com/apponoastos/player-test/surrealism1.htm

I'm using the JW 3.16 player and streaming a YouTube video / file..

Tell me if you get some sound out of it. If you are, then something is wrong here ... or over there ... or somewhere. Whatever.

There was an update for my OS a couple of days ago. I wonder if that caused this problem. But everything is working just fine, except the JW player when playing a YouTube video has no sound now. Very strange.

Also, if you must know, I downloaded the latest flash player (10), and still, the problem exists. Same with all major browsers (I.E. 6&7, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Netscape,..). No sound.

So far, this is what I'm experiencing. All YouTube videos play fine, in THEIR own player (a new one I might add). The JW player 3.16 and the 4.0 plays every other media just fine on my side, except when playing a YouTube video, there's no sound. Just a video streaming with no audio.

Apponos,
Your video works fine for me, Linux FF3, and XP FF3 & IE7..

The issue is a user-by-user problem, and we've yet to figure out WHAT exactly is causing the problem. I have users with the same exact setup on their computer as u in terms of OS and Browser without a problem... So... it's kind of annoying that there's no real trend yet lol

I am going to installed the YouTube chromeless player they distribute with their API on a test page, and stream the same video. When I get it up, I will let everyone know, but if the video won't stream from YouTube using THEIR player, then there has got to be something going on that doesn't even have to do with JW's player, it could be related to 3rd party software blocking the stream...

JW Player

User
0 rated :

I just had a couple users try the chromeless player.. these users ARE having trouble with the sound when viewing YouTube videos on the JW player...

They all reported that the google chromeless player did indeed work, sound and all... I assume that their using their own Flash or JS API's, because this is an open source, freely distributed package from them.

JW Player

Interesting.

Hey, have you tried checking a computer that is having the problem with YouTube audio on the JW player? I think you will find it interesting to see it for yourself.

I check that chromeless example the other day while reading all about YouTube. That video runs fine on my machine. The JW player works fine playing everything I've coded it to play. The only trouble is with the YouTube videos. No sound. Ever since YouTube made changes to their player or whatever, that's when I started to notice something is wrong. First, my videos wouldn't fit-to-screen or fill anymore. Now, there set back to the dull 4:3 t.v. aspect ratio. I don't think I could do anything with flashvars to correct that on the JW 3.16 player. However, with the new JW 4, I can. I downloaded and tested it out a few days ago with a YouTube video, but still no sound. I will be very impress to find out that some 3rd party software is blocking the audio stream.

The JW players rules, but something is bugging the JW player from playing the audio stream on YouTube videos. Very strange.

I'm gonna test Linux, maybe tomorrow, on another machine. I'll post the results here.

Thanks, HomesSPH.

I wish I had a physical machine in front of me that was suffering from the bug so I could play with it lol... Makes you feel like your stabbing in the dark.

Have you tried installing Flash Player? Also try going into Flash Player domain and privacy settings make sure there is nothing setup that might block this.... I wish I knew more about the YT API, I haven't really dug into their code yet.. But its odd that the behavior just started when YT made a change... I wonder if it's the change or that it appears to be the change.. I wonder if Adobe put out a new update for flash player around the same time... blah, I am starting to become burnt out trying to figure out this issue... it's not really worth it for me, I can just pay $xx dollars to get a player some where else and either code in YT support from their API, or just work off of the Chromeless player YT provided.. because right now, all of my videos are from YT.

JW Player

User
0 rated :

Adobe DID put out a new update around the same time, maybe a week or two ago. YT made many changes, too, around that time, not only to their player, but to their website on features and such, and even added some new stuff. While they were making these changes, the website would shut users out from getting into their accounts. They did that several times. Nobody could get in or login or make changes to their profile, or upload vids... I know because I'm one who frequently uses the site. Many times that's happened, and recently.

My test page with the YT video playing in the JW player was working beautifully a month ago. Several weeks ago, it ceased to FILL YT videos in the JW player. The video in the player went from this:

YOUTUBEYOUTUBEYOUTUBE
YOUTUBEYOUTUBEYOUTUBE
YOUTUBEYOUTUBEYOUTUBE
YOUTUBEYOUTUBEYOUTUBE
YOUTUBEYOUTUBEYOUTUBE

to this:

SUCKS!!!SUCK!!!
SUCKS!!!SUCK!!!
SUCKS!!!SUCK!!!
SUCKS!!!SUCK!!!

Now, no ((( A U D I O ))).

My alternative is using their player. You can even tweak some of the parameters, which is pretty cool.

http://code.google.com/apis/youtube/player_parameters.html#color

I've tried everything. Oh well. Laters.

Oddly, this is only happening with YouTube videos. Weird, huh?

No Sound here either, but the player looks good otherwise. Would love to know if there is a solution.

I did notice that when I downloaded the JW player files after upgrading to the newest flash, the file size of the downloads before/after were different. Plus the file icons were now 'flash' instead of 'quicktime'.

I notice even the wizard does not play audio when generating code in the YouTube options.

** UPDATE **

I upgraded to OS-X 10.4.11 Mac Tiger system with a clean install - and all is working - and also checked with several PC users I know and they were able to verify sound from YouTube as well (they are good upgraders).

As a note - simply upgrading from OSX-10.3.9 to 10.4 and then 10.4.11 did *not* fix the problem. I had to do a completely clean install so I'm assuming there are some extension-type conflicts involved - my guess is with Quicktime v. Flash.... Just my take.

After 2 nights of hair pulling, I'm just glad to report it wasn't YT...

I’ll poke around the youtube forums and mailing list. Think the problem is there.

JW Player

User
0 rated :

@Jeroen: For me the chromeless player works by the way so that I don't think its a generally acknowledged chromeless player issue. So far I couldn't find complaints on the YouTube developer list. As I had posted before the same YT video
plays with sound if I use the chromeless player and load a specific video

If I take the example from HolmesSPh

No sound:
http://www.mypraize.com/index.php?option=com_mediajive&task=showVideo&v=44be18cce7475364cb0074392c387047

Sound:
http://code.google.com/apis/youtube/chromeless_example_1.html
Load the video with ID "aYaTSbCGY50"

As said the problem must have started somewhen before
this thread started (26th of June). It worked with version 3.16 for me before.
Since I am using still the same version of JW Player the only thing that could
have changed is something in the API communication process between player and YouTube
API that causes a problem with some client setups.

Suspiciously there is a release note for new updates on the youtube developer blog just
around the same time.....

http://apiblog.youtube.com/2008/06/latest-release-notes.html

Jeroen could you as author of the software address this issue in the YouTube developer forum?

As of this morning, unless it's my computer acting weird, it appears as if both v4.0 and v3.16 do not stream audio along with YouTube videos. This holds true even in the setup page here on your page Jeroen. Non-Youtube videos play with audio and mp3 files work correctly too... which indicates that this is an issue pertaining to changes on YouTube's end.

Having read the rest of this thread, I wonder if it this means that in the past 12 hours my computer has changed such to bring this on. With that in mind, I know that last evening my PC computer downloaded and installed some updates. Perhaps these are the cause of everyone's issues and may shed light onto a solution.

Thoughts?

I had a similar problem, youtube videos would start and play with no sound for 1-2 seconds then stop. I tried all the remedies I could find but then downloaded the beta 10 player of flash which seems to have cured the problem...

JW Player

User

I'm really starting to believe that my developing this issue in the past 24 hours is because of the automatic updates that Windows installed. I can't remember exactly what they were (I recall one of the, 3?, was an update to the malicious program tool remover or something of the sort), but that is the only change which could have caused this. Testing the player on other computers revealed that this is isolated to my computer (and select others), which leads me to believe it is an issue of interference with Jeroen's code from some other program update. I downloaded flash player beta 10 and that did not solve the issue either. Bizarre.

Jeroen, or anybody else, do you have any ideas? If we don't figure out what is causing this and determine a solution, this could eventually become bad as more and more users' computers receive updates that break the player.

@DJ: that didn't do the trick for me, but I'm glad to see/hear that people are finding solutions. Other tricks I've heard that have worked for people are upgrading to Flash Beta 10 (as beezl mentioned) and manually turning your digital audio back from 48hz to 44.1hz

YES!!!!! That link worked for me - however I deleted all visited sites just to clear out everything in the 'visited sites' area - it even worked on my old system which I just upgraded because of this problem (was in the middle of a website design when this happened and ate 1 week of my time rebuilding everything with a different player and reloading video files, etc... So, seems like a fault of Flash 9 then. Somehow they are letting data corrupt the program and resetting itself is the only way to fix it. I can't believe they didn't catch this before.

http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/08/16/solution-to-fix-youtube-or-other-embedded-flash-video-no-sound-in-external-websites/

The only confusing thing (for those who follow that instruction) is that after clicking on 'advanced' a webpage opens and you actually USE THAT WEBPAGE as your control panel. Clicking on the links on that page opens the settings for your computer, even if it seems awkward. I kept thinking I was linking to a 'help' file - but the settings ARE changed on that page.

Thanks for the link - hopefully ADOBE can FIGURE THIS OUT soon! They are going to be looking bad if users are having to reset their program all the time as the only way to get video to work properly. That is a huge bug - many companies RUN 100% on video presentations and interaction for sales and marketing.

NOT GOOD

Thanks again Jeroen!

Having made some methodic tests I found a condition on this topic.. I'm not having audio troubles with YT-Videos but with our own RTMP-streamed videos:

We use a small SWF which requests a single frame from the streaming server as a preview thumbnail generator for the videos.
On the website the current video is shown along with a list of related videos featuring thumbnail images. In Explorer everything is working fine (we hear sound) but in Firefox *no audio* comes.
This is only happening *when opening multiple streams* at once (the thumbnail generator opens a stream for each video to get the preview frame) - when playing just one video with a single player and no thumbnail list aside audio is working!

Tested this in IE6 and FF2 on WinXP2,SP2 + latest updates, JW Player 4.0 (build from 10.07., not recompiled), Flash-Player 9.0.124

Okay, I was able to get it working finally... perhaps I just messed up earlier while running CCleaner.

Here are my specs and what I noticed while trying to debug this:

Windows XP, Firefox 3 (though it didn't make a difference since I tested in IE 6.0, IE 7.0, Opera, and Safari and sound was not working in any browser), and both players (3.16 and 4.0) were not working for me. Initially I was using flash player 9, but upgraded to 10 beta yesterday - this had no effect.

Just now I retried resetting the flash player to Allow third-party Flash content to store data on your computer as described in the tutorial posted in the link above - once again, this had no effect. I had tried this yesterday, and it didn't have any effect again today.

However, when I tried running CCleaner again (this time deselecting EVERYTHING except the option for Adobe Flash Player) it seemed to solve the problem. Earlier today when I ran CCleaner I selected literally everything... but for some reason it didn't have any effect. Restarting the computer after running it had no effect... nor did running it a second time after the reboot. For some odd reason, however, running it tonight did the trick. The only difference I can think of is that I only had the flash player option selected... but that doesn't make much sense, which leads me to believe I perhaps messed up earlier.

Final thoughts: it appears as if, on my computer at least, the only solution that worked was running CCleaner to clean out the Adobe Flash Player files. Oddly enough, I was not having this issue as of two days ago. The only thing I can think of that occurred to change my computer in the 10 hour time frame when the sound stopped was the automatic installation of three Windows upgrades. This may have purely been a coincidence, but the timing does seem to make sense.

@Youtube No Sound: First of all when you say you have a solution for the search engines this implies that it works not only for you but is a general solution to the issues described here. To me your post reads like you are suggesting the thread can be closed now cause there is a solution which is not the case. A number of people did invest quite a bit of time to track that issue down and still look for a solution. So you were the one who should have given the wording more consideration. I think my post was nice and empathic enough in that context... ;-)

Videos only play for a few seconds then stop and reset to the beginning. Plus no sound. Crashes IE 6 too, only accessible via firefox.

Here an update on the current status of the discussion YT developer forum on the issue. There seems to be
a fix for the issue with the next chromeless player upgrade forthcoming which is good.

http://groups.google.com/group/youtube-api-gdata/browse_thread/thread/922e7fb865382f81#

@Jeroen: Please have a look at the assumptions about the JW Player implementation in the thread for a detailed description
of what seems to be the source of the issue

I also lost the sound on YouTube video, I did some testing on Win XP, ME & Win98, and found out that the player didn't have sound in any except if I played flv files.

Today, the player has video and sound in Win XP and Win98 without any intervention on my part, but not in Microsoft Widows ME 4.90.3000.

There you have it, we'll see what what the upcoming fix that Akazero mentioned, does.

@Aurora: I don't think the YT developers will make updates that quickly or untested . It might take quiet some time before the patch is deployed. The no sound issue is still around as far as I can see so its therefore very unlikely that the patch I am referring to is already out and has caused the problem you describe.

Hi -- I've integrated the JW player into an application with the need for multiple player instances.
The no-sound bug appears when testing my app in the flash IDE. I've made these modifications to the code:

in class YoutubeModel

/** Destroy the youtube video. **/
public function stop() {
outgoing.send("_AS3_to_AS2","stopVideo");

// added:
*loader.unload();

try {
outgoing.close();
} catch(err : Error) { }
try {
inbound.close();
} catch(err : Error) { }

SoundMixer.stopAll();*
};

Closing the connections so I don't get an "there can only be one Youtube player per computer" error.

In yt.swf

_as3_to_as2.stopVideo = function()
{
ytPlayer.stopVideo();
// added:
*ytPlayer.destroy();*
clearInterval(byteInterval);
};

as adviced here http://code.google.com/apis/youtube/flash_api_reference.html#Caveats

These mods result in the sound to playback roughly every second time I instantiate a player with a youtube stream.
Without SoundMixer.stopAll(), the sounds start playing AFTER i stop and unload the player for the first time.
Hope this helps to track down the bug...

@Jeroen: How could v 3.16 be modified as a temporary solution until the next YT API update?
Can you please give some directions where to look in order to unmute the player after loading in an extra step
to see if this would work? Thanks

CCleaner did the trick for me!!!

I develop with JW Media Player often and was afflicted with the NO-SOUND "BUG". I tried everything including upgrading from 3.16 to 4, explicitly scripting flashvars with mute=false, and volume=90 and clearing my cookies. Nothing worked!!! It wasn't until I ran CCleaner that the problem was solved.

@Jeroen: Thanks for the wonderful player. This must be a nightmare for you.

the person I know that was having the no audio issue problem was also fixed by using CCleaner. what exactly is going wrong here and what can we tell users to do to eliminate the problem. I can't imagine telling everyone that experiences this problem that they have to download and install CCleaner...

is the actual problem the volume and mute settings stored on the client as this person suggests:

http://groups.google.com/group/youtube-api-gdata/browse_thread/thread/922e7fb865382f81#

also, any ideas where I would make the unMute() changes that another user suggests fixed the problem?

Jeroen - would it be possible to also update v3.16 (or whatever is the most recent v3 release) or let me know if the unMute() changes in the v3.16 YouTubeModel.as methods below appear OK? Many thanks!

/** wait for the player to load with a loop, then remove the loop. **/
public function onLoadInit() {
var ref = this;
ytplayer.onEnterFrame = function() {
if (this.isPlayerLoaded()) {
*ytplayer.unMute();*
ref.pauseseek = false;
this.addEventListener("onStateChange",ref.onPlayerStateChange);
this.addEventListener("onError",ref.onError);
ref.onPlayerStateChange(this.getPlayerState());
ref.setStart(ref.feeder.feed[ref.currentItem]['duration']);
delete this.onEnterFrame;
this.setSize(ref.config['displaywidth'],ref.config['displayheight']);
}
}
};

/** Start a specific video **/
private function setStart(pos:Number) {
clearInterval(positionInterval);
clearInterval(loadedInterval);
if(feeder.feed[currentItem]["file"] != currentURL) {
if(!loader) {
loader = new MovieClipLoader();
loader.addListener(this);
loader.loadClip(url+'?key='+key,ytplayer);
} else {
currentURL = feeder.feed[currentItem]["file"];
ytplayer.loadVideoById(getID(currentURL),pos);
ytplayer.setVolume(config['volume']);
sendUpdate("load",0);
sendUpdate("size",320,240);
}
} else if(!isNaN(pos)) {
ytplayer.seekTo(pos,true);
} else {
ytplayer.playVideo();
}
positionInterval = setInterval(this,"updatePosition",100);
*ytplayer.unMute();*
ytplayer._visible = true;
trace('true!!');
};

I just want to make sure I've read this right, the unMute() method is going to be called everytime a YT video is sent to playback and this will fix the issue? If something is being muted, and I change the volume wouldn't it fix this for that video?

Ok Jeroen thanks but I did not have a file called player.swf it was called mediaplayer.swf in the wordpress plugin. So I just renamed the player.swf file from the new download under that filename and now it returns and error#2035

The error says "Cannot connect to YouTube..." only one connection per computer allowed"

This is not a problem on the player or the connection with the site, is a problem with the flash plugin because I'm also getting the same fault on the youtube site with the original player on firefox 3 and with the last update of flash player.

But it comes once from time on time and when I open the same url on IE7 there's no error.

This has been reported in Adobe forums and elsewhere and appears to be a problem with version 9,0,115,0 of Flash. Reverting to an older version of the Flash player plugin can solve it.
See this mozillaZine forum post http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=3249140#3249140

Also see http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=3253563#3253563 later in the same thread. Running a flash utility program has also fixed it for some.

Old versions of the Flash player can be downloaded from Adobe at

I don't know if this will work for others, but I was experiencing the "no sound" problem, and fixed it this way:

Right-click on the player, select: "Settings..." > "Advanced..."

This should open another browser page. From the lefthand column select "Website Storage Settings Panel."

In the resulting settings manager applet, click the "Delete all sites" button.

Reload the page w/ the "no sound" problem, and voila.

Justin, I believe you are probably doing the same thing that CCleaner is doing, just doing it by hand, this is good though, they are steps we can suggest to our users....

Also, Adobe introduced a new version of Flash Player this weekend, and I had some users praising me because it works now... lol I couldn't take the credit though, I didn't change a thing...theymust have upgrade their flash player
