Video not playing on iOS devices using WLAN / O2 3G

Hello,

I have set up many JWPlayers so far without many problems but now I am stuck. We are using one licensed player here: http://www.ottobock-export.com/ and we will be licensing another one for this site: http://www.alcina.de/video.

On both pages the player works in all major browsers using either mp4 with flash fallback or a combination of mp4/webm and a flash fallback.

The problem:

When using an iOS device in a wireless network environment (no firewall restrictions or proxy servers) the video will not play with the message "Either format not supported or network error...". We were testing with iOS 5.0.1 and 5.1 in two different networks (one at the company and a normal one at home).

The same pages on the same devices using telekom.de 3G network work like a charm. Our client is using O2 3G network and is experiencing the same problem, that we have on wireless LAN.

Any idea what we are doing wrong here?

Thanks and best regards,

blomeyer

One more info: The video on the JWPlayer page: http://www.longtailvideo.com/players/ works on the same devices and WLAN.

We just released a small patch to 5.9. Can you try to re-download it and use it? – http://www.longtailvideo.com/players/jw-flv-player/

Hi Ethan,

thank you for the quick response. Still not working though. We are now testing here: alcina.workbox.de/video

We also tried to take the files from your example (longtailvideo.com/players) and put them on our servers here:
http://alcina.workbox.de/video/test.jsp
This is not working either. But, when linking to the files on your server directly the video plays. Now my question. Could it be that we are missing something on the server side? I think the mime types are set correct. Anything else we have to do?

Looking forward to your reply.

You need to enable range request headers.
