Added MIME types, but video doesn't play in IE

I posted here a while ago because I was getting occasional errors when trying to stream video in Chrome, no errors in Firefox, and NOTHING but errors in Internet Explorer (All the latest version).

The page is here:

http://drayton-bird.com/copytemp/

I was told in the previous thread to upgrade to JWPlayer 6, and that I needed to have the MP4 MIME type added to my shared hosting account.

I upgraded the player version, and I talked to a customer service rep of my hosting account and they say they've added the MP4 MIME type to the hosting.

I no longer seem to be getting any errors in Chrome, but the video will still not play in Internet Explorer. I get an "Error loading media: File could not be played" error.

Looking at the "Network" tab in Chrome's developer tools when streaming one of the video files, it lists the MIME type as "octet/stream". Does this mean the MP4 file type was NOT successfully added?

And is this why it's not working in IE, still?

This file – https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/bristol-videos/bristol2011videos/Drayton%2Bpt1-1.mp4

Is still showing the MIME TYPE as – application/octet-stream.
It needs to be video/mp4.

You are using Amazon AWS it seems, so this needs to be changed on Amazon’s end.

Thanks for the quick response.

I can confirm that setting the MIME type as video/mp4 through Amazon S3 makes the page work in Internet Explorer, but ONLY when the player is set to "Flash".

Using the HTML5 player still gives the same error.

So you've helped me make progress!

Any ideas on making the HTML5 player work, though?

The HTML5 player seems to be working in IE on our end:

Have you managed to get it working since your last posting?
