The issue here is that you can’t put http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=apm+bar%C3%A7a&aq=0 as the file flashvar, as it is just a YouTube Search Query. That will not work.

Refer to the YouTube API Developer Guide – http://code.google.com/apis/youtube/2.0/developers_guide_protocol.html

Ethan,
I am having the same problem and I have followed all the documentation regarding the crossdomain policy from the adobe website's KB and I am still getting this error...I am using the "*" for domains because I am allowing all access to these files because multipule website will be using my files in their players (radio shows archive files) and I am not sure what I am doing wrong...I am kinda new to this and also new to Red5 so maybe I am doing this incorrectly.

here are my questions:
1) does this file belong on the Red5 server which is hosting these files in question?

2) if above is "YES" does it have to be in the main root of "Red5" or with in the "webapps" folder or in the actual application on Red5 I am hosting the files in such as "oflaDemo" (not using oflaDemo...this was just an example)

3) if question 1 is "NO" then where is this "crossdomain.xml" file to be hosted/located??

4) can you tell me if this is correct...accroding to adobe this file should simply look like this for full domain access:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "http://www.macromedia.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">

<cross-domain-policy>
<allow-access-from domain="*" />
</cross-domain-policy>

I have been beating my head against the wall for 2 weeks now trying to get this to work...can you PLEASE help me...and YES I have downloaded the player from here and I wish to use this player because I do beleive it is the best FLV player on the web to date!!

Respectfully,
Jim

Nathan,
I actually got it to work after I posted this...it works but not exactly like I wished it did.
I have my website on one server and my Red5 is hosted on my own server here at my house and the files are being stored here on my red5 server. I get them to play back thru the website (using your player) but the only way I can get the playlist to load into the player and the FLV files to load off of the playlist is if I continuolsy use the IP address and Port number of my red5 server...I am going to assume that I can fix that issue with a DNS zone file (sub domain) to point the IP and Port number to a DNS Zone. The problem I am having now is that everytime a new FLV file is being created I need to go and manually edit the playlist and I want to know how I can create a PHP script to automatically do this either when a new FLV is created or when someone loads the player (not sure which would be best or easier) please let me know if you can help me....my email address is jacivitello at gmail dot com

I fixed it. Apparently IE requires the crossdomain reference to be "xxx.com" not "http://www.xxx.com". Once that change was made then all browsers including IE work just fine. Thanks for the great plugin!

SOME FEEDBACK TO HELP OTHERS who are getting this error "Task Queue Failed at step 5: Playlist could not be loaded due to crossdomain policy restrictions":

Mine was a youtube video but I had left the "PROVIDER" blank. Adding "youtube" made the prob disappear. I know that won't work for everyone, but as long as it helps a few.

Sadly, while that error disappeared and my video showed in preview here, it still doesn't show on my site after pasting the custom code generated. Instead, still shows "This text will be replaced". Can someone help me? The link is at: http://www.imreview.com/MP4_testing_copy.htm

Hi Ethan,

I am a newbie in doing this so I really need your help to make it work for my site. Currently I am only using the you tube embed codes to embed the videos I want to post on my BLOGGER site. I want to use the JW player but I am having problems to make it work.

Here is a test Link of my site: http://v-hive-trudisliit.blogspot.com/2010/11/test.html

I encountered this: Task Queue Failed at step 5: Playlist could not be loaded due to crossdomain policy restrictions

and this are the codes I used:

<embed src="http://www.jeroenwijering.com/embed/player.swf"width="450"height="324"allowscriptaccess="always"allowfullscreen="true"flashvars="height=324&width=450&file=http://kalinktv.com/video/73346NUN85S5/24-Oras-Weekend-11-07-2010&searchbar=false&smoothing=false"/>

If you are going to look on the other date of posts you can see I used you tube player.
I want to change it using the JW player but I am really not familiar with codes and not an IT neither a programmer that is why I use you tube for they give the embed codes once you want to share it.

Now what I would like to do is to play a video link (e.g. links from megavideo,you tube playlists, other webs videos, & etc.) using the JW player. To give you an example lets say I want to get this link (http://kalinktv.com/video/73346NUN85S5/24-Oras-Weekend-11-07-2010) and play it, embed it using the JW player for my site the same way that they're doing it. As you can see in the sample link they are using the JW player for the video playlist coming from you tube. Could you show this to me step by step for me to understand on how to do this clearly? If you can provide the right codes to do this please do so, that will give me an idea on how to do it by myself the next time. Thank you very much and I really appreciate your help.

Hi Chris,

The issue here is that you need to link to the location of a video file. You are linking to a URL – http://kalinktv.com/video/73346NUN85S5/24-Oras-Weekend-11-07-2010

If you load this file, it will work – http://kalinktv.com/playlist.php?i=I3Sb0UYNh70,dAwykwXV1Io

About a sample of you tube playlist try this:

I am also getting the "Task Queue Failed at step 5: Playlist could not be loaded due to crossdomain policy restrictions" error.

I am using the latest JW Player Plugin for WordPress, and I am simply trying to display a video that is located ON MY OWN SITE. I am using the following shortcode:

[jwplayer config=Out-of-the-Box file=/wp-content/misc/video/APEpicnic30.flv]

I also tried using a fully-qualified URL:

[jwplayer config=Out-of-the-Box file=http://www.thefifiorganization.net/wp-content/misc/video/APEpicnic30.flv]

...but received the same error.

I tried placing a "crossdomain.xml" file at the root level of my domain (thefifiorganization.net/crossdomain.xml), with the following contents:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "http://www.adobe.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">

The URL of the .flv file is:

@Jason Toews – I used Firebug and it shows the player requesting the file from that location. I would recommend downloading Firebug…it’s a great tool. I would add the flv into your shortcode via the absolute path, to make sure you are calling it correctly.

JW Player

User
0 rated :

@Ethan Long Tail - perhaps you missed the below, from my earlier post:

<quote>

I also tried using a fully-qualified URL:

[jwplayer config=Out-of-the-Box file=http://www.thefifiorganization.net/wp-content/misc/video/APEpicnic30.flv]

</quote>

Notice that the URL of the .flv is a fully-qualified path, as you suggested. That's how the shortcode is written RIGHT NOW on the blog post here (bottom video):

http://www.thefifiorganization.net/video/1994-ape-picnic

...and I'm still receiving the error message. It's possible that, at the time you checked it, I was using the relative path. However, as I stated previously, I tried it both ways, and neither worked.

Any helpful suggestions?

In your shortcode, change:

To:

Thanks again for your diligence and patience.

Different, less-important problem: How do I get the player to be center-aligned rather than left-aligned? Previously, I simply surrounded the (full) player code with paragraph tags and named a paragraph class that specified center-align. Surrounding the shortcode with paragraph tags seems to have no effect, however.

Hi,

Two issues here.

1) Change – so.addVariable(‘playlistfile’,‘http://trojanwrestler.com/trvideo.xml’); to so.addVariable(‘playlistfile’,‘http://www.trojanwrestler.com/trvideo.xml’);

It is always a good idea to add www in. Your site does not have 301 Re-Directs set up.

2) Your playlist itself has an issue:

http://trojanwrestler.com/trvideo.xml

XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
Location: http://trojanwrestler.com/trvideo.xml
Line Number 75, Column 2:</trackList>
-^

This is because at the end of your playlist you have:

</trackList> </playlist> </trackList> </playlist>

You need to make it:

</trackList> </playlist>

It depends on how the video was encoded. iDevices are very picky.

First, I had the same issue "Task Queue Failed at step 5"
You have to be careful about the ".
But now my video is not playing in Firefox. In IE it's ok. My video is about 100mb.

@Nicolas – Generally when you have an issue, providing a link would be helpful…

One, make sure to run this application on your mp4 – http://renaun.com/blog/code/qtindexswapper/
Two, make sure you have GZIP Compression Disabled, and you have MP4 set as a valid MIME-TYPE

Thank you!
I disabled GZIP Compression on videos server. I added this :
<IfModule mod_deflate.c>
SetEnv no-gzip 1
</IfModule>
Now it works!

Hy all
@developer: how difficult must it be, to cross check your code for the missing "" [quots]? Since your documentation is not accurat at all.

@all: remove the "" [quots] and your movie is loading perfectly...

Hi all, I'm very new to this and I'm also getting the same crossdomain error message. I've been using the longtail wizard to help create my player and it looks amazing I just can't get it to use my playlist. Test site is here:

Here is my xml file code:

bc.. <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
<playlist version='1' xmlns='http://xspf.org/ns/0/'>
<allow-access-from domain="http://williammorrismusic.com"/>
<trackList>
<track>
<creator>William Morris</creator>
<title>Sante Claas</title>
<location>http://williammorrismusic.com/flv/sante.flv</location>
<image>http://williammorrismusic.com/videothumbs/sante.jpg</image>
<info>http://williammorrismusic.com</info>
</track>
</trackList>
</playlist>

Your link is down.

For some reason if you copy and paste the whole thing it does work:

bc.. http://williammorrismusic.com/links - copy.asp

Got it.

1) The issue here is that your playlist – http://www.williammorrismusic.com/playlist.xml, is referencing all of the files without the www. in front of the URL. You should add that in.

2) Remove this line – so.addVariable(‘skin’,‘http://www.williammorrismusic.com/player.swf’);

Because player.swf is not a skin, so it is not needed.

Hi Ethan thanks for that, I have changed XML to this

bc.. <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
<playlist version='1' xmlns='http://xspf.org/ns/0/'>
<trackList>
<track>
<creator>William Morris</creator>
<title>Sante Claas</title>
<location>http://www.williammorrismusic.com/flv/sante.flv</location>
<image>http://www.williammorrismusic.com/videothumbs/sante.jpg</image>
<info>http://www.williammorrismusic.com</info>
</track>
</trackList>
</playlist>

I also removed the line of code you asked but no joy so far. Did I do it wrong?

I can see the player now but the video will not play for me and I can't see the info for the video.

Hmmm, it works now but I had to use the link in this thread, when I just refreshed the page in my browser nothing happened. Also I seem to be getting different skins come up on different computers. Very odd...

The main issue is that your site does not have 301 Re-Directs set up. So people are able to access your site from www.yoursite.com and yoursite.com (without the www), this is very bad for SEO, and is causing you issues with your JW Player setup now because www.yoursite.com and yoursite.com (without the www) are essentially two different domains, and that is why you were having the crossdomain.xml errors. Much appreciated, the odd thing is that when I access my site with www. from my laptop the player works fine but when accessing it using www. from my desktop only the player shows with video or playlist.

I found this on redirects:

http://www.webconfs.com/how-to-redirect-a-webpage.php

I use asp on my site is it a case of adding in the code under that asp heading somewhere on my site?

It is just a case of adding code on your site. I prefer to use htaccess though. From my computer, accessing your with with www. , it loads fine.

Thanks, I shall have to look into it. Could I ask if you can see a description for the videos in the playlist? I have used the tag:

<description>text</description>

but nothing is showing for me.
