I may be a bit slow but I could not really follow that thread. How do you go about finding the direct/full path to the FLV file in the brightcove link.
I can use Orbit Downloader to get the file but I was wondering if there was anyway to to stream the file using the FLV Player.
Hi Andy. I can't really help you with finding anything on brightcove. I take it that you just want to stream it from their server in the player on your web site.
I just captured the video as an 30 FPS .avi file and then created both an h264/AAC quicktime MOV file and a Flash FLV file. I put them in a zip file that you can download here. As is normally the case the MOV file is a higher quality and smaller in size.

Hope this will at least give you a short term solution until others here can tell you how to accomplish what you prefer to do.
That's very kind of you indeed and much appreciated :)
I already have the files and as you stated I would like to be able to stream from the player rather than having to use brightcoves Flash Heavy and cumbersome player.
same problem here. I need to download this video from brightcove http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1550041701 for my final term presentation. But nothing seems to work. Can anyone help please?
Actually, Brightcove appears to be very insecure. The AMF messages being sent/received are actually quite easy to intercept when you use something like Charles or Web Scarab. It's a pretty big object, but you can easily step through it and find all sorts of information, tags, playlist information, cost? can you buy things?, description, publish date, cue points, jpg thumbnails, and more. Sure hope Brightcove people didn't think their stuff was secure...or sold it to poor unsuspecting people as being secure... Most importantly you can grab the FLV straight up, example: http://brightcove.vo.llnwd.net/d6/unsecured/media/959028752/959028752_1840785277_Rock-Bottom-Ep1-Act1-Viral-post-fuse480x360.flv
as brightcove seemingly does not use true streaming, the full .flv file and url can just be copied from the cache after playing - but it would take some time to see if the urls are permant or if they might change those on occasion...
I want to put this on youtube (http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1287024752?bctid=1295342480). Any one know how to do it. I've tried to download it to my computer but didn't work.
Brightcove requires a Media Read API token to allow for the grabbing of the FLV URL. It can not be obtained from the MRSS feed. Using their Media API and your token for your account, you can write code which pulls the FLV URL and then in turn plays it using the JW FLV Player.
I have tried everything, but I can't download this music, can you help me? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/video/2007/04/09/VI2007040900536.html
Hey i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to locate a videos FLV url? ive already converted the video to flv and now i would like to put it on a website of mine but i need the FLV url. the video is not from a website any help would b nice thank you im a mac user as well
It's really NOT as secure as it should be, and you shouldn't be able to do this so simply - you can just use something to capture browser HTTP requests, load up the video, then download it straight from the link. Poor effort, Brightcove.
Paul - of course it's going to be illegal in most cases. If I have invested time and effort making a video and hosting on my own site (for which I earn money for my efforts from ads around it, which in turn covers hosting costs, my time, filming costs, etc), then why should someone else be able to steal that from me and make money from it? Just because it's not a Hollywood blockbuster, it makes it no less wrong.
I can turn a blind eye to the odd rip if you've been to my site, watched a video (and the ads...) and ripped a copy to watch again offline, but seeing my video on other sites earning money for MY work without even acknowledging me makes my blood boil!
