Blurry video start

All the videos delivered from JWPlayer have a blurry 5 second start even though our originals are crisp. This isn't a caching issue since the replay has the same behavior. Does anyone know why? I have tried every different player setting and still get the same annoying behavior. Any ideas on how to maintain our sharp videos from start to end?

Hi,

My name is Timoor Kurdi and I’m a Support Engineer at JW Player.

If the file being loaded is an HLS m3u8 file it uses adaptive streaming and upshifts in quality as adaptive streaming is the ability for a video player to dynamically adjust video quality based on a user’s available bandwidth, device performance, and network conditions. We also make use of the size of the width of the player and ensure that we are not delivering a high-quality stream on a really small player as that would be a waste of pixels. So it seems like there is no way to improve this? I posted the same files on another service and they were very sharp from beginning to end with the same network connection and computer. This doesn't seem to be a caching issue. After the entire video has loaded and I rewind, those first few seconds are still blurry.
