Poor quality for the first 5 seconds

We uploaded a couple of 1920x1080 mp4 videos, and the playback has very poor quality for the first 5 seconds on both. I tried the different preloading settings, but nothing makes a difference.

The embedded player has the problem -- when I view the direct link to the 720p asset file, the video looks great.

Is there a setting to force the player to show at least 720p?

Here's an example:

What you are seeing is the expected behavior of our player where we load the first quality listed in the HLS manifest. This is the same way Apple’s native HLS player behaves. If you use the management API to tell a cloud-hosted player to only play a specific quality (via the template_key parameter in the /players/update or /players/create API call then you will only get a 720p MP4 to play back on not get an adaptive streaming experience. Alternatively, you could manually embed the player instead of using the single-line embed and point to a specific MP4 quality, or use the /videos/conversions/create API call to remove the lowest quality conversions that we create for an uploaded video.
