email about update

Hi, I got an email about an update, saying the player would be changed on November 7th, 2017, and that one should test the new version to make sure it works on one's site, but now I can't find the email at all. Could someone reproduce it's contents here? Thanks.

Sure thing.

Hello Customer,

I want to inform you of an upcoming change within the JW Player ecosystem that may affect your cloud-hosted player implementations. The support window for JW6 came to a close on February 1, 2017, eighteen months after the release of JW7. To ensure support of all cloud-hosted players moving forward, we will be automatically updating all of your JW6 cloud-hosted players on November 7, 2017 to the latest version of JW Player.

JW8, which launches this week, contains features for the web as it exists today. Browsers have changed significantly in what they support over the last two years. JW6 has not been updated since February of 2015, so any viewers still using JW6 are likely not getting the optimal viewing experience. With the upgrade to JW8, you will notice a performance increase as well an easier to use, easier to customize, and better-looking video player.

Your action items:
• Replace your old /library/ script that is delivering JW 6.12.4956 with a JW7 or JW8 libraries script from your dashboard by creating a new player or using an existing one.
• Validate that it works with your page and your content.
Things to consider when updating:
• Flash is no longer a reliable technology, make sure you are not using media formats like RTMP that require flash.
• YouTube files are not supported in JW8.

On November 7, your cloud-hosted library will automatically be updated to a JW8 player in your dashboard that you can manage and update. If you take no action prior November 7 there are chances that your pages will no longer function. If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact us using the Submit A Case button in your account dashboard.
