JW Player Video Files for Apple Podcasts

Can I use JW Player uploaded video files for the RSS feed that is required to show video on Apples' Podcast app and iTunes?

Hi there,

It does not appear that our MRSS feeds are compatible with Apple’s Podcasts Connect service. I ran a sample test playlist through their validator and it returned the following errors:

  • Podcast artwork must be between 1400 × 1400 and 3000 × 3000 pixels, JPG or PNG, in RGB color space, and hosted on a server that allows HTTP head requests.
  • Can’t submit your feed. There is no category tag in your feed, or the category tag is empty.
  • Can’t submit your feed. There is no explicit tag in your feed, or the explicit tag is empty.
  • Can’t submit your feed. There is no language tag in your feed, or the language tag is empty.

You may still be able to use content served on our platform with Apple’s Podcasts Connect, but it may require either creating a RSS 2.0 feed yourself or by partnering with a Apple Podcast Hosting Partner. Please note that files served on our platform are used by Apple’s Podcast app or iTunes, the streaming usage will count towards your account’s limits.
