HLS AUDIO STREAMING

Hello Team,

I am transcoding the video files inti m3u8 and ts chunks using aws elastic transcoder and successfullt streaming videos. Now, I want to stream the audio files. Does audio files follow the same process of dividing into m3u8 and ts chunks. What extra configurations does it need. What audio files are supported, I also need audio HD quality toggling. I didn't find any correct answer for it. Please drive me into correct path.

Thank you

Hi,

Yes, you can create HLS manifests that only point to .aac audio fragments but I am not aware of any extra configurations needed. You can also include multiple qualities of audio variants in the manifest.

We will also automatically create one audio-only track for any video that you upload to your JW Player account dashboard. You might find that our transcoding is easier in your workflow.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions,
Todd

@Todd, Thanks for the reply.

So, I need to take `Audio AAC` as a preset if I am using amazon transcoding. For Videos I use `HLS v3` different formats such as `HLS v3 400k`, `HLS v3 600k` etc. Should we use the same (`HLS v3`) for audio s too? And how many audio formats are supported?
When I will get HD button for audio streaming?

Yes, you should use AAC for audio. We also support MP3 but AAC is more of a standard.

You should see the HD button for any video or audio streaming when our player detects multiple sources for the same video. And if we detect multiple audio tracks we will display a separate UI button. Please see https://support.jwplayer.com/customer/portal/articles/1761348 for more details.
