JW Player 7.10.+ not working on Firefox on Fedora or Red hat Linux.
I am creating a video library to player different video using simple mp4 and also using HLS stream both type videos where working fine in JW Player 7.6.1 but in latest JW Player version nothing works in Firefox browser in Fedora or Red hat Linux.
We do not officially support the use of our player in Linux. For a list of the browsers and operating systems we do support, please see our Media Formats Reference and Browser & Device Reference support articles.
MP4 and HLS playback in Firefox on Linux is working fine in JW Player version 7.8.2 but it shows "Error Loading Player: No playable sources found" in JW Player version 7.10.2 and 7.10.4. I just want to know that in near future is there any possibility to consider this as issue and fix this.
I went through the links you shared but i didn't find any statement stating that JW Player is supported or not supported on Linux.
My apologies – I believe our documentation used to state our player was only supported on desktop browsers in Windows or Mac, but it looks like they may have removed that. I will escalate that to the team responsible for the documentation. It is true, however, that our player is not supported in Linux distributions.
With that being said, I have tried an embed of a MP4 and a HLS stream in JW Player 7.8.2 in Ubuntu and I receive a “No Playable Sources” error, which I would expect. If you are able to see the player working in JW Player 7.8.2 in Linux, can you send me a URL to that page?
