VAST causes video to pause/buffer

This is actually a followup to a previous topic: https://support.jwplayer.com/customer/en/portal/questions/16967439-googima-countdown-and-skip-ad-button-underneath-player-ui-mobile-?new=16967439

Only issue stopping us using VAST is that when a midroll cuepoint is set up, the video pauses/buffers even if there is no midroll served by the ad server. This would be fine if we could guarantee we always have a midroll targeted, but we don't.

Google IMA is working much better for this. It seems the request is made in the background and video paused/ad displayed only when something is reported back by the ad server.


The VAST issue is with both manual ad breakes in JWPlayer setup and with VMAP schedule.

This is currently the expected behavior of the “vast” ad client. We are looking into the possibility of making this smoother in the future, but I do not have any more information at this time.
