We had a client request a direct link to a mp4 file hosted on JW for them to implement to their player. It appears that there is no metrics data being captured using this method, not even a simple number of plays. Is there no way to track a video using a direct link like this?
The data you see in the Analytics section of your JW Player account dashboard comes from the pings sent by our player via Javascript. If your videos are being loaded on a page without the Javascript player, then the only usage data we have is based on the CDN server logs. We use these logs to generate the Accounts > Usage section of your account dashboard.
Please e-mail the video media ID to support@jwplayer.com and I will ask the engineers to see what usage data they can find specific for that video. Please reference case #100915 in your e-mail.
