Wowza DVR Live Stream Help

Hi, I've been trying to embed a live stream on my site, with DVR support, so viewers can rewind to see what they missed.
But, there's some problems with the way it's been working...

First, when a viewer loads the page, they are taken to the very beginning of the live stream, instead of starting LIVE.
The other problem is, the player treats the Live stream as a single video.
Once the Live stream is loaded, wherever the stream is currently becomes the END of the stream, and the viewer cannot continue past.

I'm not sure how to fix either of these things, the live streams play fine otherwise.
Thanks in advance.

Can you paste your HLS DVR stream here so we can troubleshoot?

And what is the duration of your DVR stream? I believe there must be three minutes of content or more before our player enters DVR mode.

And what browsers / devices are you testing on? I believe there are some devices that do not support DVR streams, like Android and Chromecast.

Our stream is here: http://45.58.47.31:1935/live/smil:stream.smil/playlist.m3u8?DVR

The player enters DVR mode fine, the problem is that it's not LIVE.
Since it's a Live stream, the duration is well over 3 minutes.
We often stream for 6-12 hours or more.
I've tried with both Firefox and Chrome desktop browsers. Results are the same.

Hello,

I looked at your stream and indeed the content shows up as DVR when tested on my end. I am also seeing that the content is properly seeking forward and backward when scrubbing the controlbar. Are you seeing this problem on a certain platform other than Mac OS X?

Yeah, like I said, the DVR function is totally fine.
It's watching the content LIVE that does not work.
Of course, you can only see this occurring if we were LIVE at the moment, but we're not.

If someone enters our LIVE stream, 12 minutes after it's started,
the player starts from the beginning of the stream, and they can only watch the 12 minutes of content from before they started watching.
Then, once the player hits the end of that 12 minutes, it the player totally stops, and never actually goes LIVE.
This is not how the player should behave.

How it should work is, when our LIVE stream is up, when someone starts watching, the player should start LIVE.
The viewer should be able to seek to previous parts of the stream if they want, but the stream should not end until our LIVE stream ends.

I need the player to play the LIVE stream, instead of treating our LIVE content like a single video.

Hello,

I cannot recall in our logs or our ticketing system that there are any known issues with Live playback and our player reverting content after 12-15 minutes of playback. I might suggest potentially upgrading to the latest player release 7.8.7 and also ensuring your streams structure such as discontinuity breaks are setup properly. You can use a program such as Media Stream Validator to check this: https://developer.apple.com/streaming/
