HLS live DVR stream not starting at live position


HI,

I have the following problem:
If HD switch is set to "auto", then stream starts at live position, but if I set a resolution different then "auto" with the HD switch and I reload the page, then playing starts from the begining of the playlist, not from the end. In my case it is 4 hours in the past, because my playlist is 4 hours long.
This is happening only if autostart is FALSE.

ooh, one more thing: I'm experiencing this on Win7 with latest Chrome and Firefox...

Hi there,

Thank you for the test page. I was able to also reproduce this behavior with a test DVR stream of ours. It also only seems to happen when using self-hosted players.

I’m going to have to escalate this to our Engineering team to see what they say. As soon as I hear back, I will let you know.

In the meantime, I suggest using a cloud-hosted player from your dashboard as a workaround.

I wanted to advise you that the Product Manager has filed a bug report for this issue. However, I do not yet have a timeframe for a fix. You can keep an eye on our JW 7 Release Notes page as we post release notes and bug fixes with every new update.

Hi Perger,

We have recently released the beta version of JW Player 7.9 which should contain the fix for this issue.

Can you please test your setup against the beta version of 7.9 and let me know if that resolves your issue?

  • If using a cloud-hosted player, you can set the “Release Channel” option to “beta” in the “Advanced” section of the player’s configuration page.
  • If using a self-hosted player, you can download the beta version on the “Downloads” page of your dashboard.
