Position of Closed Captions

I am working with an HLS stream that has closed captions embedded into the stream. Various player versions have treated the captions differently. In 7.2.4 when using HTML5 I was able to view and style the captions in the HTML using CSS. When I upgraded to 7.8.2 I am no longer able to access/view the captions in the code.

I have been requested to make the captions display at the bottom of the screen with the text centered. What is the correct way to make that adjustment?

Hi Zach,

The reason you are seeing the captions appear off-center in more recent versions of the player is because your embedded captions appear to be of the CEA-708 standard, which supports positioning of embedding captions inside of the player.

We started supporting 708 captions in our player in version 7.5. Prior to that version, we would still render the captions but they wouldn’t be positioned as they are configured to be inside of the stream.

Since the positioning of the captions is configured inside of the stream, there is no way for our player to override them – the positioning would have to be changed at the point in which they are injected into the stream.
