Discovery Overlay and Player Background Image

I currently use a background image as my site branding on the player and I achieve this by setting my logo as the "image" for the first item in the playlist. This has worked great, up until now.

I am wanting to use the new Discovery Overlay as my visual playlist, but of course my first video has my logo as its image.

Is there a way to specify one image as the player background image and a separate image for the video image in the playlist? I can't figure out how to do it.

Hi,

I would set the image for the video to the proper image that should appear in the overlay; and then use an image positioned on top of the player for the logo and hide it on(‘firstFrame’).

I will look into trying that; but please make a note to the developers that being able to set a background image separate from a playlist image would be very useful.

I am having a hard time creating one that works well. I can get it working if my player is a set size, but I have it embedded responsively and it is not working well.

Do you have an example I could look at?

Hi,

What you need to do is set the .jw-preview class to display:none !important; and set a poster image to the video tag:

Thanks George. Your solution worked.

I did have to make some changes to support RTMP as my site will be using that as a fallback for older browsers.

Could you still make a note somewhere about this? I think being able to set a player background separate from the playlist would be a great option for a future release.
