The preview image for youtube videos is not dislayed (e.g. https://support.jwplayer.com/customer/portal/articles/1406725-youtube-video-embed). This issue has been reported quite some time ago (https://support.jwplayer.com/customer/portal/questions/16312115-youtube-preview-image?t=625945) but still is not resolved. At least the latest jwplayer v 7.7 has no preview image for youtube. Can it be fixed or is there a fundamental problem?

I believe there is something in YouTube’s API that is preventing us from retrieving the poster image anymore, but let me double-check with our engineers. As soon as I’ve heard back, I will let you know.

I have heard back from one of our Product Managers who advised me that there are indeed technical issues with YouTube’s API preventing us from retrieving the poster image from their end. It is recommend that you set a custom poster image via the image configuration option, or by uploading it to the dashboard if you are adding the YouTube URL there.
