Caption Italics do not work

The specific text is: "that is, in Latin, <i>Catechesi Tradendae</i> ." My intent is to render "Catechesi Tradendae" in italics. It works as such in Subtitle Edit, and https://support.jwplayer.com/customer/portal/articles/1407438-adding-closed-captions says that JW Player should support basic HTML tags. I've tried saving it as an .SRT and a .VTT. Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi there,

What version of the player are you using and can you provide a URL to a reproduction page showing the italics not working? I tested embedding the latest version of the player, 7.6.1, with a VTT file that has the following contents with italics in the first line and they appear successfully.

WEBVTT

first
00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:04.000
The <i>Peach Open Movie Project</i> presents

second
00:00:06.500 --> 00:00:09.000
One big rabbit

3
00:00:11.000 --> 00:00:13.000
Three rodents

00:00:16.500 --> 00:00:19.000
And one giant payback

five
00:00:23.000 --> 00:00:25.000
Get ready

00:00:27.000 --> 00:00:30.000
Big Buck Bunny
