file converting to .mp4

May I know which video converter does JW Player use to convert to .MP4? We are using ffmpeg but few files failed conversion and we were then unable to play 'em on JW Player.
Please advise.

We use ffmpeg. Have you tried Handbrake? It has an simpler user interface. Just make sure to enable the Web Optimized option.

An easy way to test your videos is to load the video URL directly in your browser. If it plays normally there, I would expect it to play in our player. You can also test your video URLs in our Stream Tester at http://demo.jwplayer.com/stream-tester/

Todd,

We tried Handbrake. We found it real good. But problem is, it does not convert WAV format to .mp4. Please advise.

Can iTunes do WAV to MP3?

I believe so; by setting some preferences.

>Open iTunes Preferences.
>Windows: Choose Edit > Preferences.
>Mac: Choose iTunes > Preferences.
>Click the General button, then click the Importing Settings button in the lower section of the window.
>From the Import Using pop-up menu, choose the encoding format that you want to convert the song to. To save the settings, click OK.
>Select one or more songs in your library that you want to convert.
>Choose File > Create New Version, then Create [format] Version. The format shown is the one that you chose in step 3. For example, if you >chose Apple Lossless Encoder, select Create Apple Lossless Version.
>New song files appear in your library next to the original files.

I am not too familiar with WAV to MP3 conversion, but it sounds like iTunes will be able to do that for you. There might be other audio conversion utilities out there, but I do not have experience using them.

We are recording video in webm format. Since JW Player does not support webm on IE, we are converting this into .mp4 format. But are facing choppiness issue i.e. sound comes before lipsing.
Please advise.

I just uploaded a .webm video to my JW Player account dashboard and our system transcoded it normally.

Are you able to post a link to your original video and the transcoded version here?

Hello

We record video as webm stream and we don't save it. Hence do not have link for that.
But here's the link of the transcoded one. Click on '1' from left navigation bar to view the video. URL: http://208.109.101.171:8097/Proposal_View.aspx?P=qn9V%2b4H%2fSn76zzuwcbwtzw%3d%3d

To Recapitulate, we recorded video in webm. With the help of 'HandBrake' convertor we converted it to .mp4 to play in JW Player. JWPlayer do not support webm in IE.

Please advise.

PS

When you play thisvideo in FF or chrome, it works good but the problem is IE.

Please suggest.

Our player is not a video player like QuickTime or VLC. We are basically making the video URL you give us available in a <video> tag for the browser to play. If you try a .webm video directly in a <video> tag in IE, you will notice it does not play either. This is why our player cannot play .webm in IE.

Firefox and Chrome DO support .webm but I believe they are the only browsers to support .webm

Two issues -

A. I recorded file (webm) and try to upload to JW Player online. It does not get uploaded and reflects an error: 'something went wrong'. Please advise.
B. I've uploaded an avi file to JW Player online. We are facing audio/video sync problem. Please advise.

Hi Tarun,

I will be taking over this case for Todd. When I look at the account registered to tarunc@graycelltech.com, I do not see any content with the Media ID of qaaCiACr, nor do I see any AVI’s uploaded. Is that file still uploaded but on a different account?

I also uploaded a WebM file to the account registered to tarunc@graycelltech.com and it uploaded successfully. If you are still having issues uploading WebM files, what browser/operating system are you using to do so?

Thank you.

Thanks for offering help, Alex.

Yes, I am using different account i.e. mithlesh@graycelltech.com. Uploaded AVI is there, media id - qaaCiACr. Yes, I still have an issue uploading that webm file (I don't know how to share that file with you. Please advise.) I am trying to upload using Chrome, Version 50.0.2661.102 m.

Please let me know if you require any other information.

File is self-recorded webm, which we are unable to upload to JW Player.

Hi there,

I downloaded the original AVI file you uploaded and played it in VLC Player and I see similar audio/video sync issues so that issue appears to be with the AVI file itself.

As for being able to attach the WebM file for me, can you upload it to a file-sharing service, such as Dropbox, and send me the link? If you are not comfortable with providing the link on this forum, please email it to support@jwplayer.com and reference case # 80794 in your subject line.

Thank you.
