Our player does not have a way to change the video or screen brightness. We are only playing the MP4 we are given. Do you see a difference between the brightness in our player and when you load the MP4 directly in the browser?

My master files seem quite a bit brighter than what I see in jw player after I upload them to the platform for encoding... I wonder if I should download one one of the platform encoded versions and compare it on the scope in my video editor? Is it possible the luminance is getting shouldered to 16-235 broadcast safe on the platform side or something like that?

Please provide the media ID of one of the videos where this is noticeable. I will ask our encoding engineers to look at your original upload as well as the transcodes to check if there is a difference in luminance.

Hi Jeff, my name is Heidi, I’m a support engineer here at JW Player. Are you seeing a difference between when you play your video in html5 mode vs. flash?

Hi Heidi, it would be in Chrome on Mac desktop me. It appears to be using flash (ver 21) with our player (in the player setup, always use flash is unchecked for what that's worth):

Have you tried taking a look at your video in a page in html5 mode? I’m asking in order to determine that we are seeing the same issue (your video appears a bit more yellow while playing in Flash mode, and looks brighter in html5 mode).

How do I force chrome into HTML5 video mode on the desktop? Turn off the flash extension?

If you grab the JW 7.4 beta version of JW Player (under Players/Manage in your dashboard), HLS will stream in HTML5 in Chrome by default. But yes for your testing purposes you may turn off Flash in your browser to force HTML5 mode.
