Best format to output animated explainer video from Adobe After Effects for widest browser support

Does anyone know the best format to output animated video from Adobe After Effects to ensure compatibility with maximum number of devices/browsers and OS?

Does it matter?

It's not clear whether JW Player handles conversion of .mp4 to HTML5 or if thats something we need to do when we export the video from After Effects?

Can anyone clarify, make this easy to understand?

We'd like the video playback to be HD (nice clean resolution with clean vector lines for all users) instead of fuzzy low quality and control the base level ALL viewers watch video at also. When we playback the video in any browser the display defaults to very low quality pixelated experience for user:/

Any help/tips appreciated:)

Hello,

There are a number of video formats out on the web but from my experience .mp4 seems to be a solid choice. Most if not all browsers support it and it should playback on mobile devices as well. Next you might consider using HLS as it would limit the impact on user bandwidth and would allow scalable delivery of your content.
