MKV doesn't work on Mozilla Firefox but works on Chrome

Hello,

I've read posts talking about the same problem on the forum but no one help me find a solution for my problem. Here it is :

I have mkv files I'd liek to play on my website, with chrome on html5 it works fine but it doesn't work on Mozilla Firefox. So I've tried to do it with the flash player (as i was recommended in the posts I read) but neither Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox works with the flash player.

My file are correctly encoded in h.264 and the proof is they worked on Google Chrome.

Any ideas of what should cause the problem on the html5 player ?

We don’t support MKV files for playback. Check out this article to see which formats are compatible with our player.

Hello,

so that means it is impossible to play .mkv files on the HTML5 player on Mozilla Firefox ? I already read this article but I saw a few post with Support Agent talking about play .mkv files with the flash version on Mozilla Firefox.

Thanks for your help.

If you find that a format that we officially don’t support actually works in certain circumstances, it would be up to you to let your users know what browser and OS they would need to get it to run.

Oh ok it means it's not suposed to work on Chrome, I guess I was lucky ^.^

Yes that's what I'm doing, any idea if one day the .mkv format could work with JWPlayer ?

Thanks!
