Mobile streaming

Planning on starting Live streaming website.

i'm using Wordpress and jwplayer-7. Youtube, vimeo video embedding works after pasting links into my jwplayer.com account and copy/paste the embed code onto my website post on Computer and Mobile device (android Lollipop).

Problem is... i discovered rtmp link from a channel website and after pasting its embed code onto my wordpress post the player plays it successfully on my computer. But Android device is showing error "Error loading player: No playable sources found". I know that rtmp is flash and can only run on devices that support flash which android doesn't now. And also know that HLS will help here but since i am using streaming of third party i don't know what to do.

But a different site (someone else's) running wordpress + jwplayer-6 works on computer and mobile as well. so?

I don't have my own streaming source yet. I am using third party's.
The link is this = rtmp://93.115.85.17:1935/ARYNEWS_2/mp4:myStream >> Only computer plays Live video
I scraped it from this site: khantv.org >> Computer and mobile both plays live video

Kindly tell me procedure or direct me to some guide.
Also guide me to uploading the javascript files of jwplayer7 to my server and integrating and using it with wordpress. I can't find any proper information on internet.

regards,
San

Hi, San.

My name is Alex and I am one of the Support Engineers at JW Player. I will be more than happy to assist you with your questions.

In both JW Player 6 and 7, and in general, RTMP streams require Flash Player in order to play, thus they are not able to be played on mobile devices. HLS streams will play on mobile devices and Safari natively, but would require Flash Player to play in other browsers. As long as the viewer has Flash installed and enabled, they should be able to see HLS streams in any supported browser with our player. You can read more about the browsers and devices we support, along with the media formats supported in those browsers and devices, on the following support articles:
Browser & Device Reference
Media Format Reference

As for upgrading to JW Player 7, the upgrading process would depend on how you are embedding our player on your site. If you are self-hosting our player on your own server, you can log in to your Account Dashboard and click on the “Downloads & Keys” link in the middle of the page. You will then be brought to a page with download links for both JW6 and JW7, in addition to the license keys needed for each of them. You will need to replace any JW 6 license keys on your web site with the JW 7 license found on this page.

If you are using a cloud-hosted player, you can log into your Account Dashboard and go to the “Players” page. You will then see a list of all of your cloud-hosted players with the version of the player also listed. If the player is version 6, you will see an “Update” link next to the version. If you click on that link, you will update that specific player to JW 7. Alternatively, you can create a new player, as all newly created players will be JW 7.

For more information on migrating from JW 6 to JW 7, please see this support document.

Please let me know if you need any more help or have any other questions.

Thank you!
