Closed caption Apostrophe displays ' in DFXP xml captions

When I upload DFXP.xml captions to JW Player 701 ADS, apostrophes ' get incorrectly converted to ' When I make my captions, I start out with UTF-8 text files. I use caption software. Before I export my finished captions, I run a check for illegal characters. This apostrophe ' ' does not happen when I upload captions as SCC format or even as SMPTE TT xml-- just for DFXP.

I read that the apostrophe needs to be rendered as a single quotation mark in xml, and that the UTF-8 representation is HEX U0027 or Binary 39. But I don't know why or how my apostrophe is converting to &apos instead of single quote.

My caption file header is <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

Suggestions please for how to get my apostrophe to display as a single quote instead of '?

Thank you!

Hi, Alex-

I asked my question wrong. My source captions are DFXP, but I think that they get converted to either SRT or VTT format before getting cross-linked to our web videos for JW Player.

Is there something in the conversion process from DFXP to SRTor VTT that could cause an apostrophe ' to get erroneously converted to &apos?

Thank you,

Hi, there.

I’m sure there is something in the conversion that could cause that, but I’m not familiar with the process so I wouldn’t be sure of what that would be. Do you have a sample of your SRT or VTT file that I can see?

Thanks.
