.mov files and .m4v files not working with jwpayer 7

hi all,
we recently moved to hls and upgraded jwplayer to 7 from 6 and everything is working fine with that but we are facing an issue which is our old .mov files and .m4v files which aren't being played by jwplayer7. on the previous player(jwplayer6 without hls) they were working fine. Is there something which is missing from our side I tried some .mov links on demo.jwplayer.com/stream-tester/ and there also it showed the same error (no playable source). We are using s3 and cloudfront to serve our content I also saw this post on aws (https://forums.aws.amazon.com/thread.jspa?messageID=301345- as its an old post so couldn't verify if it is still valid ) forum mentioning that "CloudFront does not support the playback of .mov files" and I also wasn't able to play the .mov files or .mp4 files instead they just download when I tried to open them directly on s3 on the other hand .mp4 were playable. Now my question is how can I get these files working again as they were working before we moved to hls what are we missing?. we always have been using h264 codec for our encoding both before and after hls
thanks and regards

Hi, there.

It looks like you have type: “hls” setup on the page with the MOV. If you either remove that, or change it to type: “mp4”, it should be good. It works fine on this test page: http://qa.jwplayer.com/~abussey/demos/67619-mov.html

Please let me know if you need any more help or have any other questions.

Thank you!

Hi, there.

It looks like it will work if you remove primary: “flash” from your embed code. Is there any reason you have it set to render in Flash? .MOV files should be able to play in most browsers, with the exception of IE 9 and 10. If those browsers are important to you, I would recommend looking into encoding your videos as MP4 files, which have much better cross-browser compatibility.

Please let me know if you need any more help or have any other questions.

Thank you!

What is default value for the primary for jwplayer7 ?, I was using primary because as mentioned here https://support.jwplayer.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1430218-using-hls-streaming that "Our HLS provider requires Flash to function on all desktop browsers other than Safari for OSX" . So if I remove primary:"flash" , would the hls videos still function properly everywhere?.
thanks

Hi, there.

If no primary option is set, the player will render in HTML5, except for in situations where it requires Flash. The player will then automatically render the content using Flash with no visual cue to the user that it is happening. So, if no primary option is set, the player will still function with the only exception being if Flash is required and the user does not have Flash Player installed on their computer.

Please let me know if you need any more help or have any other questions.
