"Error loading player: No playable sources found" - Windows Server 2008R2

Hello,

I've gone through many threads and tried different solutions but mine still persists.

We are using JW Player 7.1 and have had several users report issues with all browsers (Chrome, Firefox and IE11) when attempting to view on a workstation running Windows Server 2008R2.

They reported that they are only seeing "Loading the player" placeholder and there was a Javascript error in their console related the jwplayer object.

I attempted to re-create their issue and tested on a Virtual Machine running WS 2008R2 and had the following results:

Chrome (Latest) - Video worked fine
Firefox (Latest) - "Error loading player: No playable sources found"
IE11 (Latest) - "Error loading player: No playable sources found"

Any ideas?

Can you post the Javascript error they are receiving?

The value of the property 'jwplayer' is null or undefined; Not a Function object

That user stated that the had that error will all videos using JW Player.

Most videos are protected by subscription. Here is one that is not:

I’m not able to replicate the issue, typically the “Error loading player: No playable sources found” is because the content is getting blocked, in this case possibly by flash.

Hello Donni,

We aren't using flash, we are using HTML5 as primary and our source file is MP4.

Were you able to determine why the one user who was running WS 2008 was reporting a javascript error?

As I can not replicate the issue, I would advise you to create a teat page that contains only the player and send it to your user and at the same time open it up in your virtual machine to see if we can isolate the issue to that specific user.

I just tested this with your cloud hosted player and it produces the same error.

Example Page: http://dev.sharepoint-videos.com/jw-player-cloud-hosted/

Mozilla Firefox (latest) and Internet Explorer 11 (latest) on Windows Server 2008R2 gives Error Loading player: No playable sources found

I should also note that we are running this in Wordpress but we were unable to use he JW Player plugin for JW Player 7 because it didn't exist.

We are calling the jwplayer and jw player license files in the page body of each page rather than the <head> of global document.

Finally we are using AWS S3 direct rather than cloudfront.

This same error occurs in the same browsers for a cloud hosted video :

Hey Jeremy,

Thanks for the reproduction page. We actually just updated our Wordpress plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/jw-player/

Now, we still can’t reproduce the issue – I’m wondering if its a WS 2008 issue. Will try to find a real machine to test it on.
