We're loading HLS audio with JWPlayer, and on iOS it uses the native <video> element. The problem is that iOS opens a full-screen QT player when the video tag plays, which hides all of our controls etc. Minimising this full-screen player also pauses the playback. I've tested with native HTML 5 <audio>, and the player does not launch QT full-screen.
Is there a way of specifying that JWPlayer uses an <audio> instead of <video> element when playing native HTML?
Thank you again for the question. I checked with our engineers and there is currently no way to switch between an audio and video tag for iOS. We are considering implementing this feature in the future.
