hot spots / hyperlinks in video frame to provide multilevel interactivity

We are looking for a way to provide some interactivity via hot spots in the video – either via graphic overlay of button images, or "invisibly" by having an interactive region defined that corresponds with an image in the video during a specified time range. An example: an object or signage showing in a scene which when clicked upon will trigger something else – a web page launch, or maybe an alternate story outcome. Whether the object in the video is a product, a person, an object, or an animal – We might do some post-production things to draw the user's attention to the clickable image. So, is it possible to overlay hot spot regions or hot spot graphics? Would it be HTML5 compliant?

Hi, there.

We do have an .addButton() feature in our JavaScript API, that would allow you to add a button on top of the player. For an example of this functionality, you can check out the page linked below.

Example: Adding a Download Button

Being able to add hotspots or other invisible elements are not part of the built-in functionality of our player. You may be able to do this using CSS and having something positioned on top of the player, but you would want to be careful not to cover any areas used for buttons of our player, including the center (for the Play button) and the control bar area on the bottom. Please also note that this is not something we can provide assistance nor support for.
