Detect how long has user played video

I'm using JW Player 7 javsacript version. It is really nice. In Jw player dashboard each video has its own ID and analytics works fine inside dashboard. But as my videos are hosted on Amazon S3 I don't have that mediaID.

Now I'd like to know is there any way to detect how long has user played video or how many seconds the video was played?

Thanks.

Hi, there.

We do offer JavaScript API calls to allow you to find out the duration of the content, and also the position of the playback at a certain point. You can use these API calls to possibly build something in JavaScript to report on duration and position.

Also, just so you know, you can still use our Analytics offering even if you host your content elsewhere. When you log in to your account and go to the “Content” section, you can click the arrow next to “Add Upload” and choose “Add via URL”. You can then paste the URL of your content in and it will generate a Media ID for you that you can then use with our Analytics. Please note, however, that the pieces of information you are looking for, such as duration and position, are not offered in our Analytics product.

Please let me know if you need any more help or have any other questions.

Thank you!
