Controlling Google IMA playback with JWPlayer

Previously, when using VAST ad tags with JWPlayer 6, I've been able to pause and restart playback of ads using the JWPlayer javascript API's pause() and play() functions, however now that we have transitioned to using the Google IMA plugin, these calls no longer work. Is there a method to control IMA playback via some internal API, or can the Google IMA plugin be targeted directly for playback controls?

play() and pause() for ad playback will be officially supported in VAST for our next version. However, I don’t believe this was ever officially documented as a method of ad pausing in JW6.
