Is there any way to have assurance that ads will be muted in JW7? Even VPAID ads? Do any of the API functions work for this?
Can you just use the .onadImpression to then trigger a function that sets the volume at 0?
Or is there just nothing that can be done about annoying audio ads?
Unfortunately not for VPAID Ads - they often don't pass control to the JW Player wrapper.
Once our player loads the VPAID ad .swf, we do not have any control over the viewer experience until the ad tells us that the ad has ended. Some ads allow muting via our API, but others do not. The ad .swf creator would have had to specifically allow those API events to work.
Your best option in this case might be to request mutable ads or ads without audio from your ad network.
