Embed Code generation Chnged?

Last week, I was asked by a friend whether JW Player was any good. Now I hadn't used it for a few years, so decided to try it out.

I signed up, went through the simple process of generating an embed code and got videos embedded with both the remote player and self-hosted in no time. I laid out the basic process for him, and he signed up for an account this morning.

I got an email from him saying that his account didn't look anything like I'd described. I logged in and, sure enough, it all looks very different today than it did last week. The problem, is that embed codes generated using a link to a video today don't work at all.

To make sure I wasn't going mad, I once again pasted in the embed codes I got last week, and all worked perfectly. Substituting those from today just give a blank are where the video should be.

Am I losing my mind, or is something broken with the recent changes?

Cheers

Link?

It's on a dev site, and I can't link to it, unfortunately.

I know that makes it difficult to establish if I've made a mistake or not, but I haven't.

I've been a web designer for years. I know that doesn't mean I'm perfect, but I checked everything twenty times to make sure I had it right.

I even posted both old and new embeds in a wordpress test site with the same results. Old worked, new doesn't.

Can't you at least put up a stripped-down test site that illustrates the problem? With nothing to look at, we're in "psychic" mode.

Okay, well something was happening backend, by the looks of things.

Before I got a chance to look at getting a url to put in here, it suddenly started returning an error that no video source was found, which it hadn't done before.

I decided to wait and see what might happen and, sure enough, it now works perfectly in both standard HTML and in Wordpress, both without me changing a thing.

To make sure, I went through it again, regenerating the embed code, and it worked first time.

I suppose, like good comedy, the secret is in the timing, and I was just unlucky!

Hello Paul,

Thank you for contacting the JW Player support team. We have recently rolled out an enhanced version of our Player account Dashbaord to streamline the overall embedding process. The new interface will take hold in new accounts going forward.

Kindly,
