for HTML5 /mobile, is mp4 enough, or also need ogv/webm?

is webm/ogv supported or needed in addition to mp4 for mobile playback?

for jwplayer 2.1.13 plugin in wordpress, is a single mp4 video all that's needed to correctly play on All mobile devices, eg ios/android/ipads?

I'm asking because in other video playback solutions I've seen them require all 3 video formats be available, mp4 + webm + ogv

MP4 is all you need. It's supported natively (in HTML5) in all current browsers, and on all mobile devices.

The only exceptions are IE8 and Firefox on WinXP, which need to fall back to Flash, but even there, an MP4 plus JW Player is all you need - JW Player will invoke the Flash plugin to play the video.

Here are the charts - H.264 is the encoding used in MP4:

There's one gross error on that page - I've told them about it, but they're ignoring me. That page indicates that Opera doesn't support H.264 natively. It does, both on Win7 and on OSX.

This is the first time I’m hearing about that error, so I’ll escalate it to JW and the folks responsible for that web page.

The test is simple enough - try this in Opera:

There's also a nice little typo on this page:

"Text Matrix?" I suspect "Test" is the word you're after. ;)

Opera also has no problem with AAC or raw MP3 audio.

Still not corrected. Embarrassing.
