Referer is Flash file in many browsers not the page URL

I have had a long running security problem whereby I want to play restricted content in Amazon S3 based on referer URL. This works ok in Google Chrome and Operas only. When I open the network tab inspecting the page I see the referer URL and permission is granted. However In the other PC browsers the referer URL is the actual flash player file https://ssl.p.jwpcdn.com/6/12/jwplayer.flash.swf
When I add this to the whitelist of URL's I can then play the content. But this means the video can be played on any embeded webpage using the SSL cloud based JW Player. ( not ideal)
How is it that Chrome uses the page URL as referer and IE/Firefox uses the flash player file... is this something that JW has a way around to fix for me

Hi,

If this is a major concern, it is possible to self-host our files. These can be downloaded from your account dashboard page, if needed.

I have tried this but I always get crossdomain error on HLS videos... and I don't understand why. When I switch back to cloud player I have no problem.

Hmm if there’s a public-facing page I can look at, I might be able to offer some suggestions. If you need to send privately via Email, feel free to go that route as well. I’ll be happy to take a look.

The problem is the delay from me sending a link and you looking at it. I have to change the had of my whole site, which breaks the HLS featutres

We were having some issues with crossdomain issues and Palo Alto firewalls earlier in the week. Not sure if this is related, but this should be fixed now. Is it possible to check again?
