Azure HLS streaming on mobile devices

Hi,

When streaming video (from Azure) in HLS to mobile devices, the quality toggle does not appear on the control bar. On the other hand, watching the same video via a Desktop browser displays this button.

Is there a way to make this button appear also on mobile devices?

As an example, I've been looking at the video found at the bottom of your page at the following URL:

Thanks in avance.

Perhaps a better example of my problem is visibile at the following URL:

http://www.jwplayer.com/partners/azure/

This video is hosting on Azure and streamed in HLS, but when viewed on a mobile device does not display the quality toggle button.

There is no quality toggle because on mobile devices it is automatic... why? Because it should be invisible to client, it should not be an option, when on a iphone or ipad you want the best video at the connection speed you have. This is by design Apple iOS and can not be changed. It is a good thing..... come to think of it, I can't understand why JW Player has quality controls for HLS on desktop at all, it is stupid. ( IMHO)

Hi,

Indeed, on mobile, we fall back to a device’s native handling of HLS. These do not included manual quality selections.

If the use of auto quality is always going to be utilized, it is also possible to hide the quality toggle via our skinning model. We figure it’s just nice to provide a choice. :)

Do you mean by removing the skin button in the xml file?
