Video Playlist in Wordpress

I updated the plugin to version 2.1.10 and the one playlist I was able to get working before has stopped. I upgraded again to 2.1.11 and that was no help. I have added the playlist followed by all of the videos contained in the playlist in individual players to the test page below.

I still need to know where to find what the playlist ID is!!
My previous problem was getting a second playlist to work I suspect that the problem is with finding the playlist ID. I was able to get playlist 1 to work but no other sequential numbers I tried would work. I covered this thoroughly before my question was given this inadequate answer and closed.

I’m trying to ask one of our developers for some additional insight here. I’ll let you know when I hear back.

Hi,

I have spoken to our devs and I believe we are using Wordpress’s media IDs here. Essentially, wordpress is the thing that is numbering media and playlists here.

I am seeing a new tool under add media which adds a playlist automatically. It generated a shortcode which looks like this
[playlist type="video" ids="24184,23924,23923,23922,23921"]
The previous playlist, that I wrote referencing one of your help documents, looked like this [jwplayer playlistid="1" player="2"]
So obviously the format has changed with this newest version.

The new tool doesn't use my playlist and is ignoring the poster images I have specified for these videos. I may be doing something wrong but I haven't found any documentation.
Is there anything I can add to the shortcode which would make the playlist use the player I chose from the "Embed with" dropdown or make it use the thumbnails which are associated with the videos using the "Poster image" dropdown in the media library?

Just to confirm, but are you utilizing the “JW Player Playlist” creator here?

From in an existing page I clicked "Add Media" then I choose "Create Video Playlist" from the media menu on the left. I selected all of the videos I wanted to add and chose a player from the "Embed with" drop down menu.
Then I clicked the button labeled "Create a new video playlist". On the next screen I clicked the button labeled "Insert video playlist" and the shortcode I described above is added to the page. No playlist is saved anywhere.

I just went directly into the Media manger and it looks like that actually saves a playlist. The shortcode it creates looks more like my original shortcode and assigns an ID to the playlist.
I think my problem is solved and that the “add media” version of the playlist creator is broken.

If the JW Player plugin is properly installed, you should also be seeing a “JW Player Playlists” category within your media section. This is where you’ll need to be creating playlists to use with our player.

I did see the "JW Player Playlists" option available but there were no playlists available until I created one through the media manger. The "Create Video Playlist" option, which is available from the add media option I described above just inserted a bad shortcode on my page. It did not create a video playlist that I could use.

Also, when I did create a playlist successfully through the media manager. The search function to find files didn't work. I had to use the pages navigation and go through 60 pages one by one until I found my videos. To be clear it only displayed videos so most of these pages were blank, it just buried all of the videos deep in this page listing. It was usable but far from ideal. The last version of JW Player only showed videos and didn't add blank pages between them.

Again, JW Playlists should allow you to create playlists based on the items in your media manager. Creating a playlist through the media manager is not handled through JW Player’s plugin, so I cannot guarantee that these things will be working if things are created in this way.

I was hoping to give useful feedback. The functions which aren't working are JW Player screens just a different direction to get to the same plugin. The user interface could use some attention, wordpress seems to be an afterthought.

We definitely appreciate the feedback. We are hoping to redesign our plugin in the future to support more features and to be laid out in a more thoughtful way. I can’t give an ETA just yet, unfortunately… but yes. We’re working on it.
