H.264 videos not playing in firefox in html 5

I have my player setup to use HTML 5 as primary and it works in all browsers except Firefox. I am currently on 36 but noticed it wasn't working on 35. On older versions it would play with flash but now it is trying to load the video in HTML 5.

I have 2 videos I tried testing using the publish feature on my account and one works and the other doesn't. they are both h.264 AAC encoded the only difference is the aspect ratio and the audio quality from what I can tell.

any ideas on why this is only a problem on one of the two and only in Firefox?

The error message is pretty clear - the file is corrupt. It hasn't been encoded properly. I ran it through HandBrake with default settings, plus checked "Web optimized," and it then plays with no problem.

No, I can't explain that. There are so many encoding variations and permutations, it's usually impossible to pin down the exact problem. But re-encoding with a robust application like HandBrake clearly fixes the problem (I tested it), so I tend not to agonize over the "why's."

Thanks for the help, I was trying to figure out what to tell my video guy so this does not have to be run through handbrake for every video in the future. He uses final cut and I believe that is a robust application as well.

Yeah, it might be worth making sure that things are being exported properly in Final Cut then. If there’s any setting to optimize for the web, that might be the ticket.
