Video Thumbnail not HTTPS (with Flash player)

Hi,

As seen here: http://support.jwplayer.com/customer/portal/questions/11381246-video-thumbnail-not-https, there was a problem where If you didn't specify an image thumbnail when embedding a youtube video jwplayer was serving an image from an http URL even though both the YouTube video URL and the site URL are both https.

The problem has been fixed for the html5 player but not for the Flash player. The change needed is most probably in \src\flash\com\longtailvideo\jwplayer\model\Playlist.as line 114. This is causing https issues that are very annoying for the users of the site.

Hi,

I just found out that there's another http request made when starting the playback of a video (http://www.youtube.com/apiplayer?version=3&modestbranding=1). This one seems to be located in \src\flash\com\longtailvideo\jwplayer\media\YouTubeMediaProvider.as line 23.

This newly found issue is more problematic then the one posted before because I don't know any workaround to replace this http request with an https request. (For the other issue, we could override the thumbnail image with our own)

I believe this might have been fixed with JW 6.12. Can you confirm that this is still being an issue with the latest version? If you can include a link to where this is happening, please do so as well. Thanks!

We are using the distributed version of jwplayer (it currently shows 6.12.4950) so it should be the latest. Also, I have checked in the master branch on Github and the code doesn't seem to have been fixed in flash. (I don't know exactly what's taken from Github to make the version (I don't see a 6.12 tag))

If you have any idea of a workaround for this until it is fixed, please share because it is an important issue for us at the moment.

That is possible then. I might have confused the fix for the HTML change. I can check in with our developers to see if this can be addressed.

We can not use JW plattform on our HTTPS site.
Users get confused by security messages.
