how best to add video clips at the beginning and ending of main content videos?

Hi,

We create video tutorials for crafting. We would like to customize short clips at the beginning and/or end of our tutorials. Currently, we are burning those pre and post clips into the videos themselves, however, that's time consuming and restrictive if we want to change those out. What is the best way of doing this with JW Player? Using Playlists that would set "pre-roll" and "post-roll" clips or use your ads support? For either selection, what would user experience be like? Would JW Player try to "prime the pump" and pre-load & cache those clips for seamless video playback or would buffering occur at each transition point?

Thanks,

Li

You would need an Ads license of our player, but yes, you could set clips to be pre-rolls and post-rolls. This would have the best user experience because there would be little to no gap between the clips and the main content. The downside is that you would pay more for the Ads license.

Your other option would be to configure your clips in a playlist. There would be a quick buffering between the content and the clip, but this would work without an Ads license. Please see http://qa.jwplayer.com/~todd/playlist-example.html for more documentation on playlists.
